threshold (n) an entrance or doorway
Ludlow has a fine collection of Georgian doorways of many different and unusual styles from simply elegant neo-classical to ornate porches and fancy fanlights. (click image to enlarge)

Third row down, third one in. I like the geometric pattern in the plasterwork.
Good old Ludlow. Is there nothing this town cannot provide by way of photographic opportunity Jude? You should contact the tourist board, and get paid for organising photography tours.
Regards as always, Pete. x
Apparently that is in the “Gibbsian” style Pete.
I reckon I have almost photographed every building in the town – windows, doors, timber-frames AND the walks around here. Time to move on maybe?
All beautiful. Modern doors leave a lot to be desired compared to these. I like the top row, second from the left.
That’s almost the same style as my front door – without the side panels (row two, third along with the wooden door that you like). Neo-classical style ๐
Top row, second one in, love the double frontage like that with the side windows. Great threshold pics Jude, Ludlow certainly does have some beautiful buildings ๐ xx
Like mine (see comment above) though mine doesn’t have the side windows – I wish it did as the hallway is quite dark ๐ฆ
Well you have a lovely front door either way ๐ Your hallway has to be better than ours, it’s tiny ๐ฆ
Wow Jude that is quite the selection. Definitely meets thee theme. Bottom row second from left. I am imagining all the light coming in from the extra windows.
The extra windows would be great – I wish my front door had them!
My door is made out of assorted types of glass. I am grateful for that sunshine so likely why I chose that one. ๐
First one, bottom row. Love the red, love the knocker, love the window shape above.
I like the red door too, and you are quite right the brass door furniture is delightful. A simple elegant neo-classical design with just a touch of ornateness in that lovely fanlight. A very welcoming door.
Hi Jude – first row second from left. A lot of character and inviting. Great selection. Have you checked out http://legionofdoorwhores.wordpress.com/
Hi Lynne, your choice seems to be the favourite so far! I shall go and check out the link – door whores – brilliant ๐
No. 4, the gentle lilac wall is a nice background and seems inviting. And 6- the red. Door whores? I’ll give that a go ๐
Yes No 4 would be nice and light, though I think the wall is more pink. And I love red doors too. ๐
Hold the door.
Which one?
๐
Oh, I can’t pick! I thought I’d settled on two but then started adding more… great shots. ๐
Indecisive are we Lisa? ๐ ๐ How about choosing a colour?
Well, my first impulsive choices were the two green doors in the third row. ๐
I love that pale sage green too – it is very common on period houses and cottages at the moment.
Lovely selection, Jude. I like #3 because if it was raining, I could shelter under there whilst waiting for the door to open. ๐
Most wise of you Sylvia. A porch is a good thing to have in these climes.
