Black and White 5 Day Challenge: #5

My final entry for this 5 day challenge is yet another from the plant world. I’m not keen on flowers processed in black and white as I believe the colour is an integral part of the attraction of a flower. But some plants, especially cacti and succulents, have a very strong structure and this can be highlighted in black and white. Today I have used a lithograph technique on this very spiky “agave flexispina” (Mexico).

(Compare with the colour version)

Pauline of Gypsy Life and Memories are made of thisΒ has invited me to join in with this challenge.Β If you don’t know Pauline (Pommepal) then you are missing a treat.Β Living in Australia Pauline is always on the move with her lovely Jack by her side.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

  1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
  2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.

Today I would like to nominate SchelleyΒ to join in. Of course this is only if you have the time and want to.

Schelley Cassidy Photography ran a fabulous challenge last year called “What is it” where she stumped her followers week after week with unusual shots of ordinary objects. She now posts a variety of images including beautiful macro photography. I haven’t seen her do much black and white processing so here’s aΒ challenge I hope she’ll take up.

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. This reminds me of when they show pictures taken through an electron microscope. Enlargements of the legs of a fly, the feet of a flea etc. It works very well Jude, and adds a different dimension to the plant.
    Regards as always, Pete. x

    1. Thanks Sue, though having read your comment on the other blog I see you prefer the colour version πŸ™‚ I do like the structure in this version and the way the spikes stand out.

  2. I’ve been thinking! I’ll need to get creative with mine 😦 Time is going to be an issue. Just wish I could attain genius faster πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
I like no. 3 best of yours, Jude, but the little sweetheart is a hard act to follow.

    1. Take your time Jo – there is no rush. I think no 3 is my favourite too – not that I don’t love the grand-baby, but I do like that strong Fibonacci spiral.

  3. I like the textured look you have achieved with this one Jude. It is surprising how quickly the 5 days go when you are having fun!!!
