Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

    1. He flew in front of the car in Cornwall and sat on the wall next to me, so how could I resist taking his photo? I hadn’t realised just how beautiful they are.

  1. One of my top favourite birds of all time, Jude. I love feeding them in the garden, they bring so much joy and company. When we go for a ride in the car, I always keep an eye on the roadside, I’d be devastated if we’d hit one. Going to Cromer, we drive through Salthouse Heath, there’re sooo many pheasants there this year! Siri and Selma fly around and shout warnings, but they (the birds, not the girls) tend to behave quite suicidal. 🙂
Wishing you a lovely day. It’s raining cats and dogs in Bonn,

    1. Haha.. yes, they do seem to shoot out from the hedgerows and I am always braking sharp to avoid them in the countryside. I don’t see many live ones here, they all appear to be in the butchers! I love the coughing noise they make, so surreal!

      1. I don’t want to see our friends at the butchers … We once had pheasants for dinner and I had this weird feeling for days that the birds in the garden were objecting and complaining, it was like a demo, so many more pheasants than normal …

  2. Male pheasants are so colourful. They stand out in the drab grasses and undergrowth around here, and Ollie loves to chase them too!
    Regards as always, Pete. x

    1. He flew in front of the car and landed on a Cornish wall beside me (as I had braked hard to miss him). I took the opportunity to take his photo which is why he is at my eye level! Actually in the exact same spot a buzzard flew in front of me, but he went and sat in a tree so I couldn’t get a photo!
