I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude

How very lovely. Will I ever make it to Salisbury, I wonder? Perhaps I’ll have to make do with this.
I wouldn’t go back. We just wanted to see the cathedral, but I think we are probably over that now. They get to be very samey. I wasn’t that struck by the city, but we didn’t really explore much as I was hobbling at the time.
I haven’t been to Salisbury since I was a child. Time to revisit I think.
We didn’t really explore Salisbury, other than the cathedral. Seemed very busy when driving through. On what I did see I much prefer Winchester.
I’ll have to come and find out for myself.
Salisbury is spectacular. So amazing.
Salisbury Cathedral was the very first place we visited after I turned pension age and qualified for βseniorβ discount. As I enthusiastically offered my proof, the guy told us that just that day only it was free of charge for everyone. I felt kind of cheated π
Haha… yes, I can understand why.
A wonderful place. I love the perspective looking down the verandah
Did you enlarge it? Much better view.
Of course, that’s why I just had to comment
Beautiful architecture.
Definitely worth enlarging. I enjoyed the perspective on the cloisters.
Best wishes, Pete.
Yes, it looks much better when enlarged.
Been there π Yes, I wouldn’t go back, a bit sleazy though the Cathedral was worth visiting.
I think I have seen too many cathedrals now. Just felt that we should take a look at this one with its tallest spire in Britain and I would like to visit Ely at some point. But they are all pretty much alike with tombs and Quire stalls, though of course Salisbury does have the Magna Carta. Having said that Lincoln was impressive and Canterbury is magnificent. My youngest son lives in Wiltshire and he says they never go into Salisbury.
Yes, being someone who lives over there you would develop a Cathedral overload, I certainly would.
