Happy Australia Day

summer days

To my Aussie family and blogging mates, fire up the barbie, crack open a slab, turn up the Triple J top 100 and have a bonza day!

No matter how far or wide I roam, I still call Australia home…

I wish!

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

    1. I rather think he looks like a lot of Aussies will feel like on Tuesday – “oh, no, leave me alone and let me sleep”

    1. Have a glass of Sav Blanc on my behalf M-R. It’s a bit too chilly for the cold white stuff here! (Or should I say it IS cold enough for the white stuff here). And besides I am having a dry January. Roll on next Sunday!!

    1. Oh! I love lamb roast and pavlova! (Though someone told me that actually pavlova is from kiwi land 😉 )

        1. Of course I knew you’d say that, but then the Kiwis told me that you Aussies are always stealing their creations 😉
“The nationality of its creator has been a source of argument between the two nations for many years, but formal research indicates New Zealand as the source.” Wikipedia

        2. Oh, go on, spoilsport. You know it will reduce the amount of calories you take in if you give me a piece 🙂

    1. Well, unless you are Australian I don’t think anyone else in the world would know either Tess!! 😀

  1. Cool morning here today in Melbourne – roast lamb in the oven today I think! Not that cold really – hopefully going to reach 21c. Just a little respite from the 30+s we’ve had recently

    1. That sounds about the temperature I would like. Good for the tennis 🙂
And what’s all this with the lamb? Is that a traditional dish on this holiday? I imagined you all to be throwing the prawns and the snags on the barbie 😛

      1. Prawns on the barbie?! I think that was an advertiser’s dream.
I don’t know anyone who puts them on the barbie – snags and lamb chops yes, hamburgers yes, fish even but prawns no.
Lamb was grown here right from the word go – lots of fortunes made off the sheep’s back in the last century.
