Situated on a plateau above the gorge of the River Severn, this fine stone house has mullioned and transomed windows, a stunning interior with carved oak staircase and decorated plaster ceilings and oak panelling. National Trust

It is always a good idea to look up at windows, you never know what you might see. Like the carved figure heads and hands.

And an interesting Dovecote with a window
There is also a little Restoration church

This monthlyΒ challenge is hosted by Dawn from βThe Day Afterβ who invites participants to post pictures of any windows thatΒ Β they find curious, inviting, photogenic, or in some way tell a story.Β Visit her blog to see more windows and/or to join in with the challenge.

More good windows Jude. I like the Hall, could see myself living there!
Regards as always, Pete. x
Lots of windows to clean though Pete, how are you at that job?
I’ve got a Karcher window vac…
If I lived there, I think I might have to pay someone to climb up with a Chammy leather!
Far from you, Jude ?
Just lovely: a most impressive mansion.
Half an hours drive I guess. I must return in the summer months to see how those gardens perform, not much doing in this very early spring garden.
You must. π
You’ve done a great job Jude, especially like the cropped dovecote shot!
Thank you. So much texture going on in that shot Gilly.
Wow, these are amazing!
Love windows like these, Perfect! π
Now you are on my doorstep, Jude, and also reminding me that it’s a long time since we visited this ‘on our doorstep’ lovely house. Splendid photos as ever.
I haven’t got around to visiting half the houses and gardens around here! Must do better π
Lovely set of windows, a place I’m not familiar with…
Not so far from Ironbridge.
Oh, Ok
Those chimneys are very similar to the ones at Hampton Court Palace. Is Benthall Tudor in origin? Look at those glorious daffodils near the Church.
Elizabethan house believed to have been built around 1583 with Jacobean details inside the hall.
I guess that’s pretty close!
late Tudor. Hampton Court Palace was built in 1514 so early Tudor. I must visit it. It is only a stone’s throw from my daughter and I have driven past it many times, but never gone in!
What a good looking place, Jude! Love the dovecot. I’ll be quite nearby in August but with no transport so I’ll have to rely on you posting Summer flowers. π
Nearby? Where nearby? I have transport and not afraid to use it π
Bristol for the Balloon festival in August. Viveka is there too! π
Ah, it will be manic around there!
Yes- no fun for driving! I’m going down to see a friend who’s lived there for 25+ years and still hasn’t been to the festival π
Always the case – the closer you are to something!
I’ll take it, Jude. What a wonderful place it must have been to live in. I love those tall chimneys, and to have the sound of doves to wake up to, must have been heavenly. The garden and lawns are just gorgeous. Of course I would have be able to afford help to clean the windows and do the gardening and cleaning. π
I shall have to go inside next time, apparently it is quite stunning! Jacobean fireplaces…
Oh yes, please do that. π
