Silent Sunday

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude
wow – there is no words for your beautiful work…well done!!
Thank you 😀
Gorgeous photo. Is the aqueduct for cars or just for those on foot?
As Becky says, it is for narrowboats and walkers. There is a tunnel at the far end. We were doing a circular walk at the time which took us across the aqueduct. More info and photos:

I wondered about narrowboats. We would love to do a narrowboat tour one day and even looked into it the last time we were in UK but the costs were astronomical.
I looked into it too many years ago when my children were young, but it was totally out of my reach even then.
My parents did one a few years ago and when I checked with them the price had doubled since they had done it.
Oh, and there is a rail viaduct behind it which you can see on the left of the image.
It’s for narrow boats! I have wonderful memories of navigating across this aqueduct and then into the tunnel on the other side 🙂
It’s very high up! We avoided the tunnel and went onto the road at that point (we were obviously NOT in a boat or that would have been very tricky…) 😀
Lol – a narrow boat on wheels would be hilarious! It is challenging enough manouvering a 70footer on water 😃
Never been on one, though it is perhaps the one type of boat I could sail on without feeling ill. I do like walking along towpaths – nice and flat, usually.
Try it – my Mum hates boats but she is happy on a narrow boat! It is rare to notice any movement – most common is in locks but you could always get out then and work the lock instead. The other times were when I went on a river in one, and then an occasion when the canal sprung a leak!!
You make it sound soooo attractive. Not.
Brilliantly caught at this angle!
We had good light that afternoon. Though I do recall it being cold!
cold and good light often go together though don’t they. Not good for manipulating camera.
True. Fingers do get a bit clumsy!
Great image, Jude!
Thanks Sue. Late afternoon winter’s light!
I always wanted to ride this one! 😦 😦 And now Gilly’s gone missing? Will email her today. Know she was having some asthma issues and she’s always a busy bunny. 🙂 🙂
She commented on a couple of my posts yesterday.
Ah well… saw this too late 🙂 🙂
Missing moi? I’m too big to lose!
No, you’re not, sweetheart. 🙂 🙂 Got your email, thanks!
Great composition, and wonderful light and colours too.
Best wishes, Pete. x
And all that with essentially two colors.
A raw February day if memory serves me well.
wow
I love this pic Jude – great angle and stunning contrast and colour 🙂
A colourless February day, but the sun was low enough to highlight those arches perfectly.
You did real well capturing beauty on a colourless day 🙂
Thank you!
