The theme for Becky’s April Squares challenge is ‘top’
-
- On Top of the World – summit, crown, peak or uppermost part of something
- Under the Big Top – topping or covering (or if you’re really lucky circus)
- Room at the Top – first or highest in position
- Cherry on Top – something made even more wonderful by becoming square
- Top and Tail – or maybe you’d prefer to play around with word combinations such as top dog, top stitch, top full, top line, top fruit, top hat, top secret, top knot, top drawer and top dollar!
up on Top
Or even ‘under the big top’
April Squares | Day Eighteen

I like to see balloons in the sky. Something very peaceful about watching them.
Best wishes, Pete. x
Never seen them here. Lots over Surrey and Hampshire.
I haven’t seen balloons in the sky for a year or so now. I always think it looks like a great thing to do – very peaceful. 🙂
Brilliant shot – and idea. It’s getting harder as the month wears on.
An old photo taken when we lived in Surrey, seems a lifetime ago, but probably 12 years.
I would love to do that one day!!
Yay! Love hot air balloons. So wish I’d had a go in Bristol! Was that 3 years ago? Who knows! 🙂 🙂
More like four, I’m sure I was in Ludlow still.
Great sight!
Petworth Park!
Oh!
We went in a ballon once, it was lovely. Surprisingly silent.
This is a really great shot Jude.
I haven’t seen hot air balloons for ages. They used to be a common sight in the skies round here, and occasionally landed in my in-laws paddock causing much excitement for the young boy-child.
I recall one landing across the water where we lived in Cape Town. An unexpected landing and luckily not IN the water! I have never seen one here in Cornwall.
Landing is always a bit random I think.
They used to take off from a field near where we lived in Olney, Bucks. That was amazing to see, and to watch them overhead. The boy-child was too little to enjoy them then though.
This is something I haven’t had a go at yet and I would really love to one day.
Have to say it has never appealed to me.
It’s so expensive. I would make sure it was somewhere spectacular.
Yes, like over the Maasai Mara National Reserve
Yes, or Victoria Falls or the Grand Canyon or the Pyramids. Somewhere epic.
done it once, and it is amazing 🙂 so want to do it again
very clever title and description – you’re at the top of the #SquareTops game 😉
