a Kind of Surprise
This gorgeous stag was photographed by my daughter in Bushy Park, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, during the heat wave in the summer. She was sitting right next to this tree, and said the deer came down to drink in the river too, despite a lot of people being around. I envy him those antlers, how handy to be able to scratch your own back!
Bushy ParkΒ is one ofΒ London’s eight Royal Parks and Red and Fallow Deer still roam freely throughout the park, just as they did when Henry VIII used to hunt here.
KindaSquare is the theme this month as Becky is hoping we might, in the final squares of 2020, encourage and promote kindness. Β A year I donβt think any of us will forget in a hurry. Still a few days left if you want to join in. Just click on the link.

Wonderful. I’m just off to Studley Royal and hoping for more of the same.
have a fabulous day xx
Thanks. The second half was fine. The first was a deluge.
Hereβs one I saw in Richmond Park, earlyβ90s, in the middle of this post from 2013
should there be a link here?
Probably….anyway, itβs my kinda for today
Your kinda is fabulous today – just found it π
Yay, thanks!!
There was, but I removed it as it was incorrect.
ah!!!
Be nice if you can capture a rutting stag!
I heard one the other day. In the event, it chucked it down and I saw no deer or stags at all.
Oh, well, there will be more chances I imagine.
wow! Well somebody is proud of themselves aren’t they, and hope your daughter is too. What an incredible picture
He’s a magnificent animal isn’t he? I can’t think of anywhere here in Cornwall where there are deer.
How amazing to be so close to such a magnificent creature!
She was gobsmacked π
I would be too! π
He is a wonderful poser.
Stretching for those juicy leaves! Certainly shows off those antlers.
I haven’t been to that park since I lived in Wimbledon in the early 80s. But I recall the deer being very ‘tame’ around people. Your daughter took a great photo!
Best wishes, Pete. x
She has taken me to Richmond Park where there are a lot of deer too, but I haven’t been here.
That is a stunning photo!
Fantastic photo. Your daughter had a good teacher π
She has always been good at photography, she even used to process her own film at one time! She has a good eye.
That’s fabulous Jude. Does she have a photo blog?
No. Too busy working!
Wow, he is absolutely magnificent!
And so close to where she was sitting too!
Fantastic capture.
Absolutely gorgeous! The lady appears to have inherited some of her mother’s talent π π
She has a good eye. And much more technical skills than me!
