October Squares

KindA nostalgic

KindaSquare is the theme this month as Becky is hoping we might, in the final squares of 2020, encourage and promote kindness.  A year I don’t think any of us will forget in a hurry. Time’s running out so if you want to join in just click on the link.

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. Just the other day I referred someone to the version of the song I first heard, back in the late 1960s, sung by Judy Collins [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4loOplI_tA].

      1. Judy Collins popularized both of those songs, which, like most of the songs she sang, other people wrote. Less well known is that she wrote good songs of her own, too. You can listen to one at [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R04d-XAA_EQ].

  2. I don’t remember her, but I do know what you mean. You’ve set me off thinking of the Nimble advert, Bleep and Booster and Cresta being really frothy, man.

    1. “And I am not alone while my love is near me
And I know it shall be so, until it’s time to go
So come the storms of Winter and then the birds in Spring again
I do not fear the time, for who knows how my love grows, and
who knows where the time goes?”

        1. All great choices. I’ve been going through an Annie Lennox phase. I definitely have a bias towards female musicians — particularly vocalists — in my music collection.

    1. She was popular in the late 60s, lead singer of Fairport Convention. She died in 1978. Folk / rock. A beautiful voice.
