#WordlessWednesday
I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude

Not your homestead, then! I bet they have a very nice tearoom.
The manor itself is closed due to flooding over the winter, but I was there for the garden, of course. We did have a sandwich in the tea room, no cake on that occasion.

Beautiful setting.
Avebury is more famous for the stone circles, but the manor house and gardens are an additional attraction.
Handsome! Yet another NT site I haven’t visited. Let alone joined you and Jo in the tearoom.
Must admit we did indulge.
Looks like a nice place to vist, Jude.
Best wishes, Pete. x
The stone circles are the main reason for visiting Avebury, but the garden here is rather lovely. The manor is currently being repaired after flooding in February.
I have been to Avebury stone circles a couple of times, but never to that house. x
I’m not sure when it opened. Certainly wasn’t on my previous visit which must have been early 2000s
Like Margaret, I have never been thereβ¦.
Well I think it would be difficult to get around the stone circles, but the village and the manor house are probably accessible.
What a lovely Manor House. I looked it up and it sounds really interesting – shame about the flood.
To be honest the reason I visit NT places is always for the gardens. We sometimes go into the house if there is one and it is open, but I’m not hugely keen.
For me itβs the other way round, the gardens are a nice add on to the house.
I was looking at Australian Pillar post boxes and one of the sites was one of yours from 2015 asking about Australian Post Boxes and asking to let you know if anyone finds one.

Ah, yes I saw that in your post and I was going to mention it when viewing it on the computer, and then forgot. Which reminds me that I still have a post to write on post boxes in Gibraltar.
