Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

      1. A confession- I too thought they were cherry tomatoes! I’ve mostly only eaten them as fancy decorations on a dessert, now that I know what they are! xx

      1. Not particularly as I recall. My mum used to grow them and my job was to clean them. They’re tart and can make such excellent jelly or jam, pies, too. They’re sold regularly here in the farmers’ markets but also in some grocery stores, too.

      1. Tomatoes in short supply over here and very expensive, $13 a kg, which makes a decent sized tomato about $1-50 each

        1. How strange. You have the climate to grow them. Maybe you should have a couple of pots on your balcony, bush tomatoes are good to grow.

  1. Oooh, don’t make me jealous! I can’t buy redcurrants for love nor money these days, and … y’know … no garden.

      1. Summer pudding, mainly. And redcurrant jelly. Or simply … nick them and eat them before they have a chance to go anywhere else.

        1. I know. Staying self catering is good for local shopping, but then I don’t get a break from cooking.

  2. Another unusual choice that works well. I have never eaten redcurrants though, and I don’t remember ever seeing any sold here.

    Best wishes, Pete. x
