The Powder Tower or Powder Gate is a Gothic tower in Prague, Czech Republic. It is one of the original city gates, dating back to the 11th century. It is one of the symbols of Prague, leading into the Old Town. It is located in náměstí Republiky 5, just around the corner from the Municipal House. It was used to store gunpowder. Wikipedia
Have you been to Prague? Did you climb up the Powder Tower?
built to store gunpowder: I’m wondering that he still stands safely, never exploded…
Yes, quite a noticeable building for storing such a substance!
Been to Prague twice, but I never went up there… I was working, herding tourists…
Sounds interesting…
It was exhausting, if anything!
A great city to visit. I love your header picture of the Charles Bridge; took me right back 🙂
Thank you Andrew 🙂
No. Sad face 😦
Well there is still time – wedding anni maybe?
Something that I also have a photo of! Hooray…
I didn’t bother to go up either, sorry to say.
Regards as always, Pete. x
Mmm.. I just wonder whether it is worth it. I mean what sort of view would you get?
It’s one of those things I suppose, towers are just meant to be climbed, good view or not! x
I love your vignettes into all these interesting places. Somewhere else to add to my ever growing list .
Prague is very interesting. There is a lot to explore in a relatively small area, easily walkable which I like about a city.
Never been there, but I love that tower, Jude. 🙂
Thanks Sylvia – very spooky looking I thought!
I have never been Jude but I see more and more posts on this city. I love the shot of the guard.
I suspect you’d enjoy cycling in the Czech Republic, the towns are quite picturesque. I loved the guard! So colourful next to the rather dark spooky tower.
It’s funny Jude because my husband was just checking out a cycling tour in the Czech Republic. It does look amazing. So many places to cycle. 🙂
