Black and White 5 Day Challenge: #3

Something else I love to photograph are plants. Specifically flowers, but a strong structural plant will catch my eye too. I do have a separate blog for my floral passion, but today, the third day of the B&W challenge I shall post one here.

(Compare with the colour version)

Pauline of Gypsy Life and Memories are made of this has invited me to join in with this challenge. If you don’t know Pauline (Pommepal) then you are missing a treat. Living in Australia Pauline is always on the move with her lovely Jack by her side.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

  1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
  2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.

Today I would like to nominate Sherri to join in. Of course this is only if you have the time and want to.

Sherri blogs from her summerhouse and is an excellent writer, especially in flash fiction. She does take a mean photograph too so I hope she will find the time to participate

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. I have no idea what plant that is (a succulent?) but have to say that the leaves and composition work exceptionally well in B+W. Nice one Jude!
    Regards as always, Pete. x

  2. It looks very sophisticated in B&W, Jude. They are not my favorite plants, 😉 but I like your texture work very much.
Wishing you a great weekend ahead,
from the Four of us in Bonn and Cley,

      1. Me too, Bonn is quite grey today.
Selma says, it doesn’t matter, she’s got sunshine in her heart, in German we say “sonniges Gemüt” … 🙂

    1. I love playing with plants in B&W – not so much flowers though, unless a macro shot. Glad you enjoyed this one 🙂

    1. The textural effect is from the pencil effect I applied to the conversion. I rather liked the softened look and the way each leaf has an edge.

  3. This plant looks as if it is made from fabric with the B&W…fascinating! You really do have an amazing ‘arty’ eye Jude 🙂 And many thanks again for the invite (and such lovely words 🙂 ). I hope I won’t disappoint. Got to get this new editing feature figured out and get busy. And I haven’t forgotten about my B&W bench, out today I hope in time for your last wrap up I hope 🙂 xx

    1. I suppose I do use a lot of ‘arty’ shots on my blogs. I like to shake things up a bit 🙂
You could always use your bench in b&w as one of the 5 day challenge posts (they don’t HAVE to be on consecutive days if that’s too much work – as I said about the RoT – rules are there to be broken)
Thanks for the lovely compliment Sherri ❤

      1. Okay, thanks Jude, I’ll see how the day goes…rules are definitely meant to be broken! And keep shaking things up…you do it so well 😀 ❤ xx

  4. Oh my! The texture looks like starched linen or some fabric like that. Black and white sure does add interesting elements to photos I would never imagine. Exceptional photo. 🙂
