Dawn of “The Day After” runs a monthly architecture challenge as well as her windows. March is the month for Green.
Key West, Florida

The ‘classic’ Key West style of housing seems to be weather-board, shutters, balconies and fabulous wraparound verandahs open to the elements. There is a distinct tropical feel about them and I could picture myself sitting in one of those Adirondack chairs, sipping a mint julep or a margarita.
Anyone like to join me?
I admit – beautiful!!!
Thanks π
One thing I have always liked about certain houses in America, is the use of raised covered porches and verandahs. I’m with you on the porch chair and long cool drink Jude!
Regards as always, Pete. x
Cheers Pete!
In would LOVE to join you!
These are great. Thanks for linking up.
You’re welcome Dawn, I hope these fit the challenge OK π
Out of the way everyone, I’m first in line π Love these houses, remind me of similar styles in the suburbs of Los Angeles with the shutters and clapboarding, except addding chain link fencing. Fascinating to see that shot of Hemingway’s house…a beauty by the looks of it.
So what are you drinking Sherri?
Well, I don’t like Tequila so it would have to be a Mint Julip…unless you have some bubbly on the go π
I’m sure we can find some… π
Can’t wait π
Gorgeous. I love houses. The pastels and the shutters and verandahs. Wonderful photos, Jude. Hemingway’s house: awesome!
I would have liked to have gone inside but typically when I was there it was closed.
Oh yes, indeed. Maybe you’ll luck out another time. β€
Oh yes please. I would love to sit surrounded by such gorgeous colors and chat with you of course!
…mmm, now what drink is your favourite? I know, how about a refreshing glass of sparkling Icewine?
Sounds lovely!
My favourite picture here is the one with the woman on a bicycle – the angle she’s riding at reflects the open shutters. I was going to say it had no verandah so I’d have to have my drink elsewhere, but I’ve spotted the balcony at the back so that will do! Margarita, thanks.
That’s good observation! I think we are looking at the back of the house so that balcony is at the front – so we’ll have a good view of passing people π
Ok – cheers!
A verandah on a hot summer day with a cool drink and good company, watching the world go by without a care. Sounds perfect!!
It’s getting crowded on this verandah – we are going to need a bigger one π
A PARTY!!!!
I could picture myself sitting next to you doing the same.
Did you consider this part of the US on your house search?
We considered lots of places including Florida. We’re still considering now.
Great pics! I love Key West!
I only went for the day, but it seemed a fun place to be in.
I have been there many times and it is a great place. π Love Key West!
