For one fleeting moment I came face-to-face with the coyote. My trembling fingers clicked the shutter. Then he was gone. All too quickly. Blending in with the dry corn-coloured grasses. And I was able to breathe again…

How lucky you were! and skilful of course. He’s beautiful, how close were you?
Just the other side of that tree trunk – very close!
Isn’t he gorgeous? 🙂 You cast a spell, Jude.
I’m not sure which of us was more surprised!
Wonderful capture! Talk about having a good eye!
Just luck Sue 🙂
Great capture, Jude – truly ephemeral
Yup! It didn’t last very long.
I love this photo – the colours are so gentle and… ephemeral. 🙂
Nicely said Elaine 🙂
That’s bloody MARVELLOUS, Jude ! To come face to face with the wilderness as represented by one of its denizens must be … I can’t think of the right word. But I am very envious.
I confess that I did have a BIG smile on my face 😀
What a great shot! You have a good eye to have seen him since he blends so well into the background.
If you hadn’t mentioned he was a coyote, I would have assumed he was a dog … maybe that’s why I don’t tend to see anything spectacular in the wild 🙂
BIG dog, but yes he does look similar to a German Shepard. I had to check what it was in the guide book!
Oh interesting! I didn’t think coyotes were very big. I’ve always thought they were slightly bigger than a fox.
I can just imagine the fear but you kept your cool long enough to capture a perfect image of him staring at you. I wonder if he was scared too. LOL 😎
I’m sure he didn’t expect me to pop up from behind the trees!
That’s scary! My picture would have been blurred. You did good!
