Some of you following this blog may remember my recent Post Boxes. I thought that I had seen a blue one somewhere, but couldn’t remember which country it was in. Whilst searching through the digital shoebox for something else I came across it. Voilà! Or maybe that should be ‘Há’ as we are in Lisbon. (Hopefully Jo will be along to correct me).

There are over 800 different types of post boxes in the UK alone. Perhaps you have an unusual one to share? If you do then please post it and link to this one in the comments or via a pingback. I’d love to see it.
Never seen a blue post box!
I knew I had, the problem was where? A fluke I found this as I was looking for something for the creepy challenge.
Flukes can be marvellous!
The Beetley one is very dull, I’m afraid. I think I have seen yellow ones somewhere. Amsterdam perhaps? My memory is shaky, on post boxes.
Regards as always, Pete. x
I believe Australia might have yellow ones, but I didn’t photograph any. It seems a lot of countries are doing away with mail boxes altogether. You have to go to the PO to post AND collect mail.
Pete have a look at tgeriatrix’s link. She has found an Edward VII post box!
I left a comment over on her site. The green box is definitely in Ireland, County Tipperary.
Easy mistake to make. Lovely post box!
Indeed, well-worth a look, whether in Normandy, or Ireland. x
Can you find things in your digital shoebox??? This series is going to make Australian post boxes look a bit ordinary – I think. I may be surprised if I start looking.
Of course Meg, these are all post boxes from the past! The ones around here are pretty normal red ones.
We have mostly red post boxes and some yellow ones. I think they are for express post. I’ve never seen a blue one before.
I found some: https://geriatrixfotogallerie.wordpress.com/2015/08/19/post-boxes/
You did indeed! And what beauties they are. I am so excited to see the Edward VII post box. We must have some of those here surely? Thanks Geriatrx for sharing these 🙂
There’s two in this post. One is in the side of a round end of a house in Cobh, Ireland, which probably isn’t used anymore. It’s Victorian, I think. The other is on a small building in Roskilde, Denmark

Thanks Diane, I shall be over in a jiffy…
I could tell you were inLisbon straight away Jude. Perhaps I should take a photo of our group mail boxes in Canada. They are ‘interesting’. However I will add that Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto just made the top 5 of most livable cities in the world.
That would be nice Sue. As for your cities I can only vouch for Vancouver and Toronto. Both lovely places with loads to do. Though Vancouver gets my vote as I love Vancouver Island
Yes both the city of Vancouver on the mainland and Vancouver Island are gorgeous spots. A very different pace between the two I must say. We were on the island for our nephew’s wedding two weeks ago. Glorious!
Oh, you lucky things! Whereabouts?
We flew to Nanaimo and the wedding was near Parksville. Love how when the tide is out you can walk for miles!
Ah, the Riviera 🙂
Love the blue post box Jude.
it’s a pretty colour. I wonder if it is for airmail letters as there are red ones which have ‘normal’ written on them. Where’s Jo when you need her?
Ahah…so that’s where the blue post box was? Glad you found it after all 🙂
I knew I’d seen one, lucky I took a photo of it too.
I thought you must have done, glad you found it at last 🙂
