For the month of OctoberΒ I’m looking for a bench with someone or something sitting on it
(any kind of bench will do, but there must be at least one person, animal or object on the bench)
Sculptures on benches in Pashley Manor Gardens, East Sussex/Kent
If you would like to join in with the Bench photo challenge then please take a look at my Bench Series page. No complicated rules, just a bench and a camera required π
- Create your own post and title it Bench Series: October
- Include a link toΒ this pageΒ in your post so others can find it too
- Add the tag ‘bench series’ so everyone can find the benchesΒ easily in the WP Reader
- Get your post in by the end of the month, as the new benchΒ theme comes out onΒ the first Sunday in November.
My Picks of the Week:
There wasΒ a flurry of benches with sculptures lastΒ week with a couple from the prolific artistΒ Seward JohnsonΒ (click on next at the bottom to scroll through the benches on his site).Β The first is from Anne who has entered several benches before but unfortunately I have missed them! Sorry Anne! And two from Sylvia. I have a photo of one of his sculptures ‘Kiss‘ that used to stand in San Diego, but yes that’s not on a bench!
Please welcome aΒ new entry from New / Old Amsterdam with ghostly figures and the same sculpture from Elaine but in a different location or take a look at these benches with real human interest, one is sure to make you smile. GeriatrixΒ and friendsΒ orΒ Lori’s family having a giggle.
Tish on the other hand has a much more thought-provoking statue as does Elaine. But I’ll end on a sunnierΒ note with an arty shot fromΒ Kaz of the most interesting bench shelters I have seen. Oh, how I wish I was sitting there now!
Occupied benches appears to be the favourite theme so far.Β ThankΒ you allΒ for sharing some fabulous benches and pleaseΒ check out the other links within the comment section.
I really love these bench sculptures, Jude. So elegant! Thanks for the mention. I’m sure I’ll be back with a few more. π
You seem to have had an obsession with things on benches Sylvia! Thank you for sharing them with us and I look forward to seeing what else you have in that digital shoebox π
π
An inspiring selection this time, Jude. I love the white figures, with the huge trowel stuck in the lawn! It has to go to Turing on his bench though. He looks slightly robotic; very apt, given his quote about machines thinking.
Regards as always, Pete. x
Yes, that trowel is something else!
These are lovely, Jude! I rather like Miss Prim and Proper in the straw boater but they all have a nice quality to them. π
Modelled on me you know π
Naturally π π
Splutter….π³ππ
Now now. I have been known to read a book π
π
I had no idea there were so many sculptures on benches!
I’ve got another for you this week.

There does appear to be a lot!
These are rather nice. So realistic.
A sculpture exhibition in the garden on my visit. There were one or two that I fancied, if you click on the link at the top of the post you’ll see more π

Something indeed – what?
Finally I have been waiting for this month – let me go through my benches π – happy Sunday Jude – Poli
Thanks Poli – hope to see your benches soon π
might make it before the end of October π
Yours are very elegant, but I don’t know about prim and proper looks like the first lass is showing a fair bit of cleavage!
Well if you have it, then flaunt it π
I love your benches! One better than the next!
