The Swarm…

Paula’s black and white Sunday this week is all about Composition. The way we consider a subject before pressing the shutter is very important.

This is an India Ink version of a photograph of my eldest grandson just about to jump down from a granite stone gate post. I have used the ‘rules of thirds‘ to position the figure on the lower left-hand side of the image so that he is seen to be jumping into space. I like how I managed to capture him with his legs bent freezing the moment he is about to leap. I also like the spires of the foxgloves piercing the blank sky. I don’t particularly like the way the cloud on the left appears using this effect, but I have left it in because on reflection it rather looks as though a swarm of midges is heading his way and he is trying to out run them!

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

    1. Ah, no, just a wisp of a cloud converted. It was almost sundown and the original photo was quite uninspiring, but I loved the action shot.

    1. At the latest count I have 7 grandchildren Paula. Eldest is 18 and lives in Canberra, Australia; youngest is nearly 4 months and lives in Perth Australia. I have 4 in this country and this one is the eldest here (14). I have four children and started very young!

  1. Good grief! Jump faster, young man! 🙂 🙂 Clever stuff, Jude. I just thought of one of mine that would make a good subject for this challenge. I’ll see if you can spot it later. 🙂 Happy Monday! Walk’s cancelled. (real, not virtual 🙂 ) Inclement weather.

    1. Bit grey here yesterday, but no rain and today was lovely until the evening when the cloud appeared out of nowhere! But I got a lot done in the garden so that’s good 🙂 I need to get out more too, been an odd sort of month.
