Squares in squares and triangles forming squares, hexagons, polygons and otctogons…
If you fancy a distraction from the weather this month then join in with Becky’s (“A life of a 40 something”) March challenge of square photographs with the theme:
‘Squared Squares’ – think multiple squares and squares within squares
‘Squaring the Circle’ – the perfect post will be a circle within a square
I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

Interesting. And this is real? Even better. Great find. 🙂
Yes. The tiled floor of the hallway in a Count House at the mine – probably dates from around the mid 19th century.
Stunning – where did you see them, Jude?
Levant mine – floor of the Counting House I think.
Oh, not at all what I was expecting, Jude!
Another beautiful design for a quilt!
Yes. These Victorian patterns are certainly quilt inspiring. I had forgotten that you are a quilter.
I’ll stash this idea away for later. At the moment, I’m really into crochet.
Ah, only a winter pastime I imagine. Never did get to grips with crocheting.
No, I’m using cotton. If you look on my Instagram you can see photos of the project I’m participating in. It’s 365 flowers – one for every day of the year, and each day is a different design. It’s so pretty and so much fun. There’s a link to my Instagram in my sidebar.
Oh that sounds lovely, and fun. I shall have a look.
Ooh yes – it make a gorgeous quilt. Wish I had your skills.
I see quilt designs everywhere! I may not make them all though!
It’s tiles!!! These are gorgeous Jude. If only my floor looked like this.
PS and so many polygons. Glad you named them I always get confused!
Some lovely shapes in this floor, I can see why Carol is attracted to a quilt pattern by it.
Yes. Tiles! Difficult not to include some as they lend themselves so well to the challenge. I think you’d probably want your floor to be complete though 🙂
I’ve got so many holes in my current wooden floor I’m not sure I’d notice!!
Tiles work well with this theme, Jude. Floor, wall , or ceiling.
Best wishes, Pete. x
Tiles are easy though, the challenge is in finding things that you don’t necessarily notice as squares or circles. It is a lot of fun.
How cool. I like the idea of this challenge, maybe I should join in!
I’m sure Becky would love to see your ideas 🙂
I like the missing bits. 🙂 🙂 It makes the photo.
I like them too 😀
Great image for the challenge, Jude. 😃
I love elaborate tiling like this. Great shot Jude 😀
Not so much left of this floor.
☹️
Just goes to show how much profit there was in mining back then.
Cornwall was once the richest place in the world. Hard to believe it now.
Did you see the feature on Spotlight last night about the councillors going to the south of France?Total craziness.
