I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

Are they edible? They look like hippy button mushrooms.
Totally edible. On a stall at the Farmers Market in San Fran. I think they could be Lion’s Mane mushrooms.
I don’t think I have ever seen such ‘shaggy’ mushrooms. Very interesting.

Shaggy indeed Pete. There were loads of different mushrooms on the stall, these were by far the more interesting ones.
They look more cuddly than edible, Jude. 🙂 🙂
Hericium erinaceus or Lion’s Mane I think. And yes very cuddly 🙂

Not very big, just somewhat textured. Could be Lion’s Mane mushrooms. Hericium erinaceus

Never seen anything like these! I thought they were catkins when I first glanced at them.
Haha… not catkins, though I have got a photo of some coming up soon on the flower blog!
I’ve never seen fungi quite like this. They look like they need to be petted.

I’ve not seen fuzzy furry mushrooms before. I see someone else has already asked if they were edible; my immediate thought.
PS Did you try a b/w version?
As they were being sold on a mushroom stall I assume they were all edible. Maybe something the Chinese use? This was in San Fran. And no, haven’t tried B&W. Will give it a go.
Almost like little animals. Did you taste them?
No. We were staying in a hotel so no cooking on that trip.
Best way to travel, indulge yourself…
Indeed. Self catering is fine, but means I don’t get away from housework and cooking. However, hotels are expensive and we don’t do conferences any more where the accommodation was paid for.
I must admit self catering means more money to spend longer and see more when travelling. Now-a-days I do like a bit of pampering though, must be getting old!!!
I’ve it seen mushrooms like that before – I’m not sure that is fancy the thought of eating furry food!
