This I think is my favourite. The squares within the squares on the tiled floor; the square table with its circular base; the curve of the bentwood chair; the circle on the menu which half hides the circular 1950s style sugar dispenser; the round cup and saucer circled by her hand. And a Black and White Sunday as well.
Still time to join in with Beckyβs (βA life of a 40 somethingβ) March challenge of square photographs with the theme:
- βSquared Squaresβ β think multiple squares and squares within squares
- βSquaring the Circleβ β the perfect post will be a circle within a square

It certainly all came together in this one, Jude. A great candid ‘street shot’.
Best wishes, Pete, x
Thank you Pete.
Can totally see why this is your favourite. It is a fabulous capture π
I don’t usually photograph people, unless from quite a distance, but I just love this shot.
And so you should – it’s superb. π
Yes, I like this too. The camera angle makes a huge difference, too. π
Yes, it helped by being above!
Marvellous!
Bravo on all those squares and circles.
wow – you have such amazing shot and camera – effective and stunning!!
Thank you!
You’ve hit the jackpot with this photo, Jude.
Glad you also like it Carol.
A stranger? You don’t have many people shots, Jude. This is a great angle and I love the aged look to it. π
I don’t like taking shots of people usually Jo, so this is an exception. I just liked the whole composition of this and from above I could be quite invisible.
A splendid photo all round – and square!
The most important aspect Meg π
So many circles and squares, and your subtle edit and framing finishes it perfectly, nice one Jude!
Thanks Gilly, it was going to just be a B&W Sunday and then I realised how many circles and squares were in the frame!
