A bonus brown this week as I spotted this on my Sunday walk.
On returning home and reading through the posts in my Reader I realised that these two photos were also perfect for another challenge, though these were not taken using my macro lens, but my phone camera.
There is something inherently beautiful about a skeleton leaf
or in this case, petal.
Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #130 |it’s a small world

I find it difficult to remove dead hydrangea flowers for this very reason. They have a certain beauty and the colour is gorgeous.
Best to keep them on here as they protect the new buds from frost.
Lovely. Hydrangeas die with such style, don’t they?
These were still in colour before Christmas, the recent cold has changed them.
Skeleton petals,
skeletons of wild flowers in the quiet of winter, reminiscent of the summer colours, and skeletons of huge bare trees, dark against the grey winter sky – all so beautiful.
Hydrangeas are one of my favourite plants; their victorian Opulence when cut and placed in a large rose bowl, and their unfettered beauty when dried. 🙂
What a beautiful comment, thank you Emma. These particular hydrangeas were still in colour before Christmas.
I second your eloquent comment, Emma!
How lovely are these? My favourite mopheads 🙂 🙂
Looking in the Reader I thought you’d used the slider but I love these.
Nah, still using the same old classic editor.
Hydrangeas simply go on being fascinating. I love the skeleton petals.
I was thrilled to see these.
Stunning, works of art
I once did a ‘photoshoot’ indoors of a hydrangea petal, it was so small, but beautifully formed.
sounds lovely
oh you are a star, I didn’t like to ask!
Took me a while to find, for some reason I had not added hydrangea as a tag!
I am most grateful xx
Not much else to do other than housework (not) and watching TV! Thinking of driving to the beach and then I think it’s not worth the risk, Staying home is definitely safer.
Yes please stay safe xx
wow Jude – this is stunning. What a work of art – as you said would make a fabulous brooch or pendant
I really should bring more things indoors to photograph with the macro lens, I just don’t have the motivation. Hoping it will return.
it will . . . . xxx
Leaf sketons are fascinating indeed. The intricacy of the construction is amazing.
Best wishes, Pete. x
They really are beautiful.
Beautifully seen Jude. Another favourite that I can only enjoy in photos
Ah, yes, they do suit the Cornish climate well. I have never seen so many huge hedges of hydrangeas as I do down here.
I had a large hedge around the farm cottage in NZ but sadly they won’t survive here.
This is lovely.
Hi, Jude. I love that skeleton leaf! Delicate and beautiful. Funny. I had plucked a dried hydrangea to shoot as well, but I didn’t do it! Same idea as you!
Thanks Patti. I was lucky to spot this one on my walk.
