Life in Colour

A bonus brown this week as I spotted this on my Sunday walk.

On returning home and reading through the posts in my Reader I realised that these two photos were also perfect for another challenge, though these were not taken using my macro lens, but my phone camera.

There is something inherently beautiful about a skeleton leaf
or in this case, petal.

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. Skeleton petals,
skeletons of wild flowers in the quiet of winter, reminiscent of the summer colours, and skeletons of huge bare trees, dark against the grey winter sky – all so beautiful.
Hydrangeas are one of my favourite plants; their victorian Opulence when cut and placed in a large rose bowl, and their unfettered beauty when dried. 🙂

    1. What a beautiful comment, thank you Emma. These particular hydrangeas were still in colour before Christmas.

  2. How lovely are these? My favourite mopheads 🙂 🙂
Looking in the Reader I thought you’d used the slider but I love these.

        1. Not much else to do other than housework (not) and watching TV! Thinking of driving to the beach and then I think it’s not worth the risk, Staying home is definitely safer.

        2. wow Jude – this is stunning. What a work of art – as you said would make a fabulous brooch or pendant

        3. I really should bring more things indoors to photograph with the macro lens, I just don’t have the motivation. Hoping it will return.

    1. Ah, yes, they do suit the Cornish climate well. I have never seen so many huge hedges of hydrangeas as I do down here.

  3. Hi, Jude. I love that skeleton leaf! Delicate and beautiful. Funny. I had plucked a dried hydrangea to shoot as well, but I didn’t do it! Same idea as you!
