Andrew of ‘Have Bag, Will Travel’ is running a weekly challenge all about photographs of washing lines. I knew I had a couple of rather lovely washing lines, but a look through my archives resulted in a few more. Another oneΒ from Venice. I think I must have been in Venice on washing day!

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

You certainly were! Sadly, many of my washing day shots are either pre-digital or stuck on a memory stick, unsorted. Must get organised!
For some reason I imagined you to be a very organised person Margaret.
You are sooooooo wrong Jude. A place for nothing, and nothing in its place, that’s me.
I could never have imagined that so many photographers had such diverse archives of washing line photos. I missed a trick, obviously! π
Best wishes, Pete. x
Haha.. I haven’t many more Pete, but I was surprised to find as many as I have!
Ooh, love this! Great against the terracotta wall
Probably the courtyard more than the washing that I was seeing!
I think you did, yes!
Someone has been busy!
Multi occupation!
Marvellous – I wonder if residents see the beauty in their washing lines as much as visitors do?!
I imagine like us they just see it as another household chore!
That’s a beauty π π
Most of mine seem to be of Venice, though I have a couple from your neck of the woods too!
I like the light in this one as well as the washing.

I suspect I wasn’t really taking a photo of the washing, although I do find European washing lines to be fascinating!
That is a great photo! I don’t think I’ve got any with washing lines!
Lots of nice green shutters too.
True! I noticed them today.
Perhaps when there’s not much space to hang the washing every day is washing day.
