Postcards from Around the World

There hasn’t been an awful lot of travelling for this blog in recent years and whilst stuck at home during the dreadful wet weather I have been sorting through my photos. A very slow task! But I realised how many photos have never made it onto a blog post, so my idea for this year (2024) is to pick out some of my unused images for a journey around the world.

We’ll begin with this very apt photo of a shoe shop in Barcelona. Though I think you’d need rather longer boots to cope with our rainfall!

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. That’s great! But what a find! Emily always buys her daughter’s boots here in England as she can’t find fun toddler boots over there at all easily. Great idea for your new series.

  2. It’s true! Current air temperature is 7C, going up to 13 by midday and a lofty 15 this afternoon. I know those are Spring temperatures for you but here we’re in woollies and big coats. It fluctuates so much and is quite unpredictable, even locally. It doesn’t exceed 16C this week, but you know it’s beautiful, Jude. I shall enjoy this series.

    1. It’s very cold here at the moment so I am avoiding going out, though I really ought to make the most of the sunshine and dry weather. Maybe tomorrow!

      1. Well, I’m not going out either but I have a decent excuse. Wrap up warm and get those limbs moving, woman! You’ll be moaning when it’s grey and drizzly again ☹️💙

  3. Oh, this is going to be fun to follow – I enjoy virtual travelling almost as much as the real thing! And a super shot to start the series 🙂

    1. Thanks Sarah. Not as exciting as your current travels, but a look back to places I’ve been lucky to visit.

      1. Along those lines, in the summer of 1985 I spent a few weeks on Mallorca, which is also Catalan-speaking. I noticed a few signs in German.

  4. A wonderful idea, Jude. Gumboots are a “thing” in NZ, I wonder why. I’ve been sorting out unused travel photos for what seems like years 🙄😁

      1. I did a postcard theme a while ago, though it was very time-consuming, creating the postcard via the Canvas app. Then I thought of doing an A-Z world with places we have been. Might just keep it simple 😁

        1. I was going to do it as an A to Z like I did with the UK theme last year, but decided that random locations would be much easier.
