I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude

Quite picturesque Jude
A very famous view BB.
My kind of hill…. smiling!
You’re old enough to remember the advert.
And I liked Hovis 😁🍞❤️
Me too. My mother always bought an unsliced loaf of Hovis for herself. The rest of us had to eat sliced white bread!
🤣💙
That’s a beautiful picture. Very tranquil.
It’s a popular spot for tourists actually. But we were there at a quiet time.
Even given the ‘overload’ of the famous TV advert, (directed by Ridley Scott) that view is always lovely to see. You did well to capture it with nobody else in shot, Jude.
Best wishes, Pete. x
It was quiet that week, the first after the half term and there had just been a shower so any tourists had scattered indoors. I did have to wait until a couple of guys walked out of shot.
I remember the advert too, but haven’t seen the place in person. It’s lovely, but I would not like to walk up the hill, with or without bike, or down it for that matter. All that green makes it look slippery!
Yes the street is cobbled at this end and very mossy and it had just been raining so I was careful to remain at the very top!
Walking to and from home would keep you good shape! Lovely view.
That’s one way of looking at it.
And sold to us all as if it was in the frozen North, I recall…
Haha! I was about to say it looks like the Hovis advert!
Such a beautiful view. We went there specially to see it and we weren’t disappointed. Interesting to see all the moss on the road. It wasn’t like that in June. We walked down to the bottom and up again.
That view is amazing! It always makes me wonder how the folk there coped with that slope in winter – I’d be scared to set foot on it if there was the merest suggestion of snow or ice, or even frost!
