Way back in 2015 – yes that really is ten years ago – I decided to post photos of the numerous benches sitting in my folders. It seemed that I was not alone and suddenly it turned into the Bench Challenge where I set a particular criterion each month and people joined in posting their bench photos. It was a lot of fun and I met a lot of wonderful bloggers through it.

This year I am returning to mark the occasion by posting a bench photo every Sunday. There will not be any particular theme set this year so it’s not really much of a challenge, but if there is anyone out there who still has a bucketful of bench photos and would like to join me, then please do so by adding a link in the comments or a link to my post in yours (a pingback) and I will happily pop along to admire.
Darn! I always forget about benches until I open the Reader on Sunday mornings, and there you are, Sitting pretty! Have a lovely day, Jude.
These particular benches are so low that it is difficult to sit down and even more difficult to get out of π«’
Don’t! I have a very stiff, sore back after a recent ‘incident’. Sitting is uncomfortable xx
Oh, no. Not another fall?
A bit! Nothing serious, just inconvenient xx
And painful no doubt. Are you still having the wet weather?
Tanking down! Walk cancelled again. It’s quite funny really, unless you’re a visitor. Especially as it’s nice in the UK. April showers here, but harder! Supposed to be playing petanque this afternoon. My first go but I’m half hoping it’ll be cancelled. Landed on my wrist and it’s alright, but… Maybe I’ll be a good left hander xx
Oh Jo, what ever shall we do with you. I do hope you are alright π₯°
No worries, darlin! Off out into the sunshine, carefully…xx

That looks like a great spot to sit and read a favourite novel.
See my reply to Jo.
I understand. I had some back trouble many years ago but it still likes to act up. If itβs difficult to get out of then I would be looking for a different spot!
I find a walking pole helps in these situations π
What a lovely seasonal bench. Mine’s a summer time scene today, and a mini-drama. Like many of mine, the bench isn’t wholly visible, and only plays a bit-part. Not sure if I’ll get away with it. https://margaret21.com/2025/03/09/a-dog-a-cat-a-bench-a-standoff/
Any bit of a bench counts!
πThat was the right answer!
I cold loll happily amongst the daffodils here Jude though my bench is more suited to a rose garden
This bench was a tree with branches β PoetryPix
A bench. A garden. Say no more.
It’s a great setting, and I like its knobbly legs and. feet. If it’s hard to get out of I’d be sitting there for a long time!
I’ve g to someone sitting on my bench this week: https://travelwithintent.com/2025/03/09/composer-takes-a-seat/
I’ll give you a hand up!
The deep curve does make that bench look very relaxing, and would compensate fot it having no arms. But I take your point about being able to comfortably sit on it and stand up again.
Best wishes, Pete. x
Yes, these days I need to choose my benches carefully if I ever want to get back out of them.
