Bench series #25

For the month of June I’m looking for a bench with ‘Art Effects’

kent railway 50s
Kent Railway Station platform reliving the 1950s  – india ink in colour

(This month I want to see photos with some post-processing – use your imagination, it can be subtle or bold as long as it includes a bench or even part of a bench!)

If you would like to join in with the Bench photo challenge then please take a look at my Bench Series page. No complicated rules, just a bench and a camera required 🙂

  • Create your own post and title it Bench Series: June
  • Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
  • Add the tag ‘bench series’ so everyone can find the benches easily in the WP Reader
  • Get your post in by the end of the month, as the new bench theme comes out on the first Sunday in July.

And for those of you who are interested here is the original, not a great image I’ll agree, but sometimes a little creative editing can restore something you would like to keep:

DSCF2623
Through a grimy train window. Image straightened. Contrast adjusted then applied the India effect in Pixlr with a 40% opacity to allow the colours to show through.

My Picks of the Week:

Take a look at Issy’s impressionist bench
or maybe Pauline’s water-colour is more to your liking?
I have a soft spot for Elaine’s dreamy image, now that would look nice in a conservatory.
Ruth blames for me for wasting enjoying time spent applying different effects to a few of her bench photos – see which you like best
and Meg accuses me of unleashing a demon! What can I say?

As always, thanks to everyone who has joined in. I find it fascinating to see what benches you all have in your digital shoe-box and how creative you can be this month 🙂

Picks of the Week:.

A couple from Gilly, the Lucid Gypsy, but my favourite is this one.
Lumar1298 is very creative with her benches.
Sue joins in with some arty treatments of a gorgeous griffin bench
A lovely soft sepia effect from Sylvia back in South Africa
A bench in the ‘rain’ by Daily Musings
and final one from tgeriatrix with several interesting effects. I wonder which one you prefer?

There won’t be any last beach photo picks of the week as I will be away and Ms WiFi will be in short supply. Normal service will resume next week.

Bench series #22

For the month of May I’m looking for benches at the beach

The southernmost bench in the country – Lizard Point, Cornwall, England

This is the last week for benches by the sea, so get them in quickly!

My Picks of the Week:

Carol is a little late for a bench with a view, but as she has a view of bluebells which is appropriate in May, I’ll let her off as you’ll probably enjoy the bluebells.
Another one with an interesting twist is from Klara.
Pauline has an odd looking bench which is definitely ON the beach
More lovely views from Ruth in Hobart
and whilst we are Downunder pop along to read Jill’s story in New Zealand – the efforts some people go to to capture a bench photo for me is admirable 😉
Gilly is on the south-west coastal path, whilst Debbie is still in much warmer climes in Barcelona and my final pick is from Tgeriatrix who has benches in beach baskets – yes you did read that correctly!

My Picks of the Week:

Debbie heads to La Barceloneta where lots of folk are lying around in the sun.
Pauline finds seclusion with a view.
Tgeriatrix is in Scheveningen where even the clouds are flat.
Aletta is in one of my favourite locations – Hermanus, originally known as Hermanuspietersfontein. See her post to find out why it was changed!
and The Restless One, offers not only benches with beaches, but also pubs with lobster rolls (hopefully). Pop along and join her along the North Yorkshire coast.
