Ailsa of “Where’s My Backpack?” is in WORK mode this week. If you would like to join in with her challenge then please do. Everyone is welcome.
The life span of worker bee is a modest six weeks during the colony’s active season. However, worker bees live longer (four to eight months) during the less active winter months. These winter workers are loaded with protein and are sometimes referred to as “Fat Bees.”
Part of their lives are out foraging for pollen.
I saw my first bee of 2014 yesterday, fooled by the sunny day no doubt.
Great wing detail in that shot Jude.
Regards as always, Pete. x
Cheers Pete! The top bee was so drunk with pollen it actually fell off the sunflower it was on and landed on the leaf beside me!
This is such an awesome shot.
Thanks Dawn – just lucky really 🙂
I think this looks like a great photo but i’s only coming up as a ? I want to see the pollen close up.
I’ve been having problems seeing photos on blogs all week MrsC. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. I don’t know if it s a problem with Chrome (as I have tried IE to view some posts and they have been fine) or WP. I think you use a Mac don’t you? So suspect you are using Safari. Can you try a different browser?
I am and I am and I don’t think I can…… but that be too much for my little brain – your smaller bee pic looks lovely.
Thank you! That bee is the sharpest image anyway! You may see the one covered in pollen tomorrow. I have found that when I return to a blog that I can see the images. Goodness knows what’s going on though 😦
Great macro pic, Jude. Love these two worker bees. 🙂
Thank you Sylvia. They were very busy bees 🙂
Incredible photos Jude, love the bee covered in pollen, wow! I love bees as much as I despise wasps 😉 Hope you had a good weekend xx
Thanks Sherri, yes that is one pollinated bee! A bit cold and grey yesterday, but I think spring is on the way!
I think so 🙂
