Another busy weekend in Ludlow as it is the Spring Festival where food, ale and music are the main themes, although it also coincides with the Marches Transport Festival with more than 200 classic cars.
Throughout the weekend Talks, Cookery Demos and Master Classes are held within the Inner Bailey of Ludlow Castle and Pâté and Pudding Trails take place around the town. If Real Ale and Live Music are your thing then head to the festival pub in the Outer Bailey where 190 ales are available for tasting.
My photos are from the Sunday Market where local artisans sell their products. You could get serious calorie overload from this lot!

and there is even a beautifully restored steam engine to take you for a spin around the old town.
Lisa of the blog NorthWest Frame of Mind has decided to run a different project over the next 24 weeks. To try to show what is happening in different parts of the world (if you all join in) at a particular time of day.
If you would like to participate you have until next Saturday midnight to post a photo or write about what is happening in your part of the world between 13:00 – 14:00 this week. I hope you’ll join in! See links above for more details.
Lovely photo’s especially the last one. I like how the market is reflected. 🙂
Thanks Charlie – I love that image too, though I have turned the photo upside down so that you can see the market the right way round.
What a fun day at the Market, Jude! I love the basket weaver. 🙂
He’s there most market days – I love his woven dragon-flies – wish I had a garden to put a few into.
I loooove markets like this. Glad you have them already. I heard we’re having it in Chicago by Memorial Day or end of May.
We have an abundance of open markets in Ludlow Bebs. Lucky for me!
190 ales! You didn’t invite me? 🙂 I love the variety of photos and am taking note of your close up Jude!
I hadn’t realised that there was a beer festival included, usually the beer trail is during the autumn food festival. Sorry Sue 😉
Next time Jude 🙂
Excellent set of photos Jude. You should send the classic car ones to the Rolls and Bentley club magazine – they’d love them!
The Bentley was a beauty! And they are all so highly polished you could see half of Ludlow reflected in them! Thanks for the lovely compliment Jenny 🙂
Great photo’s! I love going to markets too!
We have one 3 times a week here! It’s very handy.
That looks like a delicious selection of food. Good old Ludlow, point the camera, and it is all there!
Great stuff as always Jude.
Regards as always, Pete. x
It will be quieter now until July when the Arts festival begins – I did think there were less people around this year though. There was a bitter wind!
Music, Fun and Food, what a great idea for a market. I like the pictures and I know I would have enjoayed the market, too!
It was a bit chilly this year. I think the festival in the autumn is much more popular, but we are lucky to have regular markets 4 times a week and lots of food shops in the town too!
Sounds like a nice place 🙂 Hope I will be able to see it one day.
Love this post, Jude! The last one is really cool!
Thank you Amy – are you joining in with the project?
I did for the week of 12 to 1p. I’m still looking through my folder for this week’s… 🙂
Just write about what you are doing one day this week! And include a photo if you can. 🙂
Will do, 🙂
Hi Jude, Mine is out 🙂 Thanks for your encouragement!
No worries Amy – just been to have a look! Amazing photos, especially the bike!
