Cley-next-the-Sea, North Norfolk
A lovely Grade II* listed windmill on the beautiful North Norfolk coast this windmill has been converted into a guest house where you can stay in one of the rooms on a B&B basis or self catering in one of the outbuildings. You can hire the entire windmill over Christmas if you have a few friends or family to share it with. With walks onto the salt-laden marshes straight from the front door it is a perfect place to get away from it all. Magic!

Good old Cley! It is one of those places that can seem to do no wrong, as it is all things, to all people. Lovely windmill, and good photos too.
Regards as always, Pete. x
You should take Julie there for a weekend – staying over and having dinner there. So atmospheric. Good food, I can recommend the Sunday lunch, though it isn’t cheap. We loved it in the winter. Thanks for the compliment too Pete, much appreciated.
This is a lovely post, goes right to my heart, Jude! Wonderful photos of the Mill, as we call it in Cley. I always thought the Mill was very pricy, but yesterday we went there for Wine and Dine and it was very good value for money indeed. We had a most enjoyable evening in very nice company.
Have a great weekend, you and yours and Pete and Julie and Ollie ❤ as well.:-)
Dina xo
Thought you’d like this one Dina. You are right, the meal isn’t cheap, but the food was excellent when we stayed there and it is a lovely dining room. I’d stay there again, but now I know about KB’s annexe, maybe not 😉
Great, when are you coming? We’re waiting … 🙂
Love the windmills on display. 😀
It is in a lovely spot. Stayed there in January (snow photos) and just walked around there in the summer.
A marvel! 🙂
I’ll have to put this on my list…I was only saying to someone the other day that I want to get back to North Norfolk!
Well worth the cost of staying there Sue – though you might not want the Wheel room as it is up a ladder! Cheaper rates in the winter months and very quiet with lots of birds in the marshes. We loved it!
Mmm, sounds interesting!
Sue, if you like North Norfolk, check out this wonderful blog
http://toffeefee.wordpress.com/norfolk-2/ lots of photos and great articles about Norfolk, and other marvellous places too.
Best wishes, Pete.
Dina’s blog? I’v been following for some time! I need to look you up too!
Warning Sue – Pete is one grumpy old man, but he has some good posts 🙂
I’m off for a wander, and I’ll make my mind up!!
They have so many followers (and justifiably) that i lose track!
Quite!
Jude such interesting perspectives of the windmills. Your creative photography is always giving me ideas.
Thanks Sue – I got bored of portrait/landscape a long time ago 🙂
Well I love watching what you do and am trying to experiment more with close up as per your suggestions.
I think your photos are lovely!
Thank you Jude that is very kind.
Fabulous pics, Jude. What a novel place to stay. Love your second pic….very artistic. 🙂
Taken from the balcony Sylvia, so directly under the sail.
Perfect. 🙂
What an adventure, I love it!
😀
Looks delightful! Another destination for us?
VERY expensive along the north Norfolk coast unfortunately 😦
I’ll just go and look at it then. 🙂
Have you not been up there? Not too far from your Suffolk idyll. Do stay in the windmill though – such fun!
I think we have but it would have been over 10 years ago!
Probably still looks the same 🙂
Really good-looking, Jude ! Is any of them working ?
I would like to live inside a windmill, at least to visit some … maybe sleep inside for three days…
Then you’d love this one – you can sleep in the circular tower. There is a room at the top accessed by a ladder, with another ladder up to a further floor with an en-suite!
Love tthatwindmill – and all of Cley!
It is a lovely village in a beautiful area. Have you stayed there?
Yes, a few years ago I stayed there with Klausbernd. Enjoyed the village and the area a lot. That, btw, was when we went to Norwich and took the pictures of the bosses (and other motifs) there.
Ah, that must have been fun.
It was a great time.
