I love the coast. I love what you can find at the coast. From typical bucket and spade beaches to wild unpopulated coastlines. And the variety of photographs that can be taken. Although I am a terrible sailor (just looking at waves can make me sea-sick) I like to wander near fishing harbours for scenes to snap, boats and ropes, lobster pots, chains and winches. I also like to look for flotsam and jetsam, driftwood and frayed rope.
A fantastic collection for fray Jude. I have seaside envy. 🙂
Well most of these shots were taken in your country Sue – Alert Bay!
They really are lovely. The sea is about a 12 hour drive from Calgary. 🙂
Such a beautiful drive though!
That it is Jude. Absolutely gorgeous.
Nice seaside images! I am so jealous.
Unfortunately I don’t live near any of these shots!
Aww, then I guess we’re in the same boat. 😛
Did you go out and find these frayed bits or did you just happen to have them in your portfolio? Perfect and colourful examples!
All in the digital shoebox Carol – we are a looong way from the coast, though not as far as Sue is!
Perfect 🙂
Thanks Sarah 🙂
Perfect images for the challenge, Jude. 🙂
I just knew those ropes would come in useful some day – spent hours photographing that beach!
Fantastic selection Jude I can almost smell the seaweed and that beautiful aroma of the salt in the air…
Now you come to mention it, it was just as you describe!
Wonderful photos for the fray challenge Jude. I had in mind some lobster posts from West Bay (still to post, as always) so hope you don’t think I’m copying if I do! Not decided yet. They won’t be as good as these though!! I’m with you as love to snap shots of anything to do with the coast, the beach, old boats, ropes, anything like that. Sorry you don’t like being on the water though…the only time I felt seasick was when hubby and I went on a cruise, our one and only, for our honeymoon, but that’s another story 😉
I was going to post just lobster pots when I thought of my rope shots. I’ve always wanted to post them and this fitted in nicely. Images from West Bay sound perfect. Been thinking of Bridport as a place to move to. What do you think?
My worst boat trip was a catamaran from Malta to Sicily when it rolled from side to side. I wasn’t sick, but oh boy did I have to concentrate hard!
Bridport is a lovely place, close to the sea and lovely homes. Well worth checking out, keep me posted 🙂
Such beautiful captures for this challenge!
Thanks Janaline, fraying ropes just seemed to naturally pop into my mind. Some nice harbour scenes in your neck of the woods – I’m thinking Hout Bay, Kalk Bay, Rooi Els and along the coast to Hermanus. Hope you get some time from work to go capture some more Cape beauty for us.
I missed this! Its spectacular!
Thanks Kathryn! It is so difficult to keep up sometimes, and I find that often new posts don’t always pop up in my Reader.
I know I have the same problem!
