orange seems to be a very popular choice for a photographic challenge and here it comes again. Not wanting to repeat my previous choices I thought I’d stick with a floral scheme this time around.
βThere is no blue without yellow and without orange.β
~ Vincent Van Gogh
aΒ terracotta pot contrasts beautifully with the blue-green hues of succulents.
From the palest of peaches and apricots through to copper, rust, salmon-pink and terracotta, the range of orange shadesΒ in the natural world is phenomenal.
and some plantsΒ can displayΒ many different shades of orange simultaneously as in the largish, double-formed flowers of apricot-orange with shades of rose-pink borne in medium-sized clusters on the fragrant Ann Aberconway rose.

βOrange is red brought nearer to humanity by yellow.β
~ Wassily Kandinsky
If you like flowers as much as I do then head over to The Earth Laughs with Flowers where you will find these and many more…
I can feel the heat in the terracotta pot π
You would Gilly, this was taken on a beautiful spring day in San Diego.
Lovely set of nature’s oranges, Jude π
So many shades Sue.
Absolutely!
This is a gorgeous collection of flowers, but if I had to choose a favourite I think it would be the first picture of the roses – I love the gentle colour of them.
Roses are so beautiful, I don’t think there is any one that isn’t.
I remember my mum and dad were almost fanatical about their roses when I was growing up, and I never really saw what they saw in them. All I knew was that we had to be really careful not to damage them! Now with the benefit of my more mature years, I think I can appreciate them more. π
I just remember them being very thorny!
Great colour choices Jude. And you avoided the most obvious selections too.
Regards as always, Pete. x
Thank you Pete.
‘Gorgeous’ would be appropriate, I believe, Jude … π
I will accept gorgeous Margaret-Rose π
I am glad.
I like the pumpkin sculpture. Made of copper, but the mind processes it as orange due to its form.
That’s true, I hadn’t considered that angle.
A lovely selection. The top picture looks like one of my favourite roses ‘Lady Emma Hamilton’. And I enjoyed the quote from Kandinsky too (another favourite).
I didn’t get the name of it. It is one from Bodnant Garden.
The lilium martagon has a beautiful shape!
They are unusual, I love the spotted patterns on them too π
Beautiful photos of pops of orange, really popping here Jude. The Ann Aberconway rose is absolutely gorgeous. Oh roll on spring and summer in all its glory! Hope you are having a good weekend. The sun shining here…need to get out in it! Hope for you too. I’ll start my B&W challenge on Monday…all being well, ha! π xx
A lovely spring day today Sherri – around 15 degrees here and we went for a walk in a park to look for snowdrops and deer – satisfied to find both in abundance π
How beautiful, and no doubt beautiful photos soon to follow π
Absolutely divine shades of orange. You’ve a brilliant collection here and I don’t mean just the color. Mother Nature is amazing, isn’t she? β€ β€ β€
She is indeed Tess. I must admit that I do like orange (I think we had a discussion about this on the previous challenge π )
Yup. Yellow, orange and blue (can’t forget deep purple) make me smile , especially yellow and orange. π
