So many images came to mind when I looked at this week’s WPC. But could I find a delicate feather, a frothy dandelion clock, a spider’s silken web, ethereal mist, a tissue-like poppy, gossamery seeds blowing in the wind, a downy duckling, featherweight sycamore helicopters swirling in the breeze or a light as a feather sponge-cake? No, or rather, none that haven’t been published before. Even the cake.
So I decided on this hot-air balloon which I used to see silently floating overhead on the still, hot, late summer evenings in Surrey. I would hear the roar of the burners through our open windows, as the balloon filled with hot air, and then rush outside to see it as it drifted upwards over the neighbouring houses.
This was captured in nearby Petworth Park, West Sussex when the balloon was practically at eye-level.
Wow, that is a really cool photo. It looks almost like it was taken in a different century. Fabulous entry!
The black and white conversion does that so well. Thank you!
Yes it is so cool!
Perfect! A great shot, and I love the colour treatment.
Thank you Kaz. I used to play with colour popping a few years ago, but I get distracted by other things!
Love how you have the balloon coloured. Perfect for the theme.
This is a great photo for the challenge. I’ve been to Petworth Park and the house as well. It’s quite beautiful there.
Funnily enough we have only ever been inside the kitchens at the house, at Christmas one year I think. We kept saying we must go inside, but always prefer to wander the grounds and the park. Now it is a bit too far away!
Perhaps it would make a nice day trip.
Maybe on a visit to the grandchildren, but I am more likely to go somewhere else 🙂
Well done, and I love the colour popping! It’s a tough challenge and I can’t think of anything so I’ll probably have to put up something predictable. Happy Sunday honey 🙂
It is a tough one, but maybe some of the things I mentioned help? I was waiting for your post to see what it was this week as they never appear in my Reader any more 😉
I like the way you have selected the red against the BnW makes the balloon a real feature. Good choice for the theme.
The colour popping is good for highlighting a feature. Glad you like it 🙂
Love this capture and the popping up colors! 🙂
This reminds me that we hardly even see hot air balloons near the house now. They used to set off from a nearby park, on still summer evenings, but perhaps rules have changed and they are not allowed to now.
It’s a great photo for the challenge.
I haven’t seen any around here over the last couple of years either.
I wonder where they have all gone? Maybe some new health and safety ruling has done for them …
Perfect choice for the challenge Jude, although hot air balloons scare me, so you wouldn’t catch me in one. But I do like to watch them like you 🙂
