It was like being back in Ludlow. All the beautiful doors of Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter beckoned. Often wonky, scuffed and peeling paint, elaborate stonework, fancy fanlights or just brightly coloured wooden doors. Each with oodles of character.
Lincoln Doors #1

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude
The link leads to some interesting places. I particularly like the white ones in Ludlow 🙂 Happy days!
I think I probably photographed every square inch of Ludlow’s old town!
Wintry showers here this morning. Done Asda. Think it’s going to be an indoors day 🙂
We are off out to lunch at a Rick Stein’s none the less! Celebrate the anniversary of getting the keys to our new home. How time flies! It’s a bit dull here, but I am hoping the sun may make an appearance.
Oh, that’s lovely! Happy anniversary 🙂 🙂 It’s a girl’s night tonight so I may not make much sense later on. Nothing new there then!
Happy Anniversary! 🙂
We have lots of anniversaries! Next one will be 31 March when we actually moved in for real – a year ago we were on blow-up mattresses!
Life is too short, celebrate and party every occasion there’s! 🙂
Oodles of character, indeed!
I like the one “Mint Wall Passage” …. for me, it implies an adventure waits on the other side 🙂
I spent a lot of time in Lincoln when we were house-hunting in the county, some years back.
It is a very photogenic place, full of history.
Mint Wall Passage now seems to be blocked by that door. A passage no more…
Best wishes, Pete. x
Unless you have the key to the door… 🙂
I agree with Joanne. Mint Wall Passage sounds like a secret tunnel–presumably beneath the street.
❤
I couldn’t live with that green but the reds are beauts!
It is a somewhat vivid olive green, but the tapas they served us was excellent!
They don’t make them like that any longer. Good that you have captured all the beauties! Hope you had a great meal and a smashing evening at Rick Stein’s. 🙂
We went out for lunch Dina as I don’t particularly like driving in the dark and it is very dark around here! Had a lovely meal though the restaurant was practically empty. And a nice walk after to do a bit of photography. All in all a good day.
I know those dark, winding country roads from Norfolk, Jude and I don’t like them either. Even being a passenger, I feel like a bundle of nerves. Always on the watch out for animals, cars and the next curve. Glad you enjoyed your outing. 🙂
Exactly! And lunch is nice as you can combine it with a walk 🙂
I was watching Michael Portillo on one of his train journeys last night and he was in Ludlow! I felt like I already knew where he was because I’ve been there with you!
Unique design of the pictures–and love the doors. More?!
More 🙂
Not keen on the green, but I love the red ones. My door is red so perhaps I’m biased!
