WPC: Reflecting

I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It’s cloud’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know clouds at all…

The Pin Mill, Lily Pond Approach at Bodnant Gardens, Conwy

Before being re-erected at Bodnant in the 1930’s, the building was originally put together in 1730 as a picnic house or shooting lodge, or it is thought it may have been used as a garden house. Later, the building was used as a factory for making dressmaking pins with two furnaces for that purpose inside the building.

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. What a beauty! I might have had to use my old Lunapic trick on this one Jude. Just watched the most scintillating performance from Rafa and Goffin. He’s back! X

    1. Ah, yes. Not seen much of Lunapic for a while Jo. Good to hear Rafa is doing well again. French Open you reckon?

  2. Very unlike your usual shots. Such a clear and perfect reflection, and such an odd function! I’d never thought of pins having to be made. The Joni Mitchell quote is perfect. What processing?

    1. Erm… Silver Efex from Nik software, but I can’t remember the exact edit. The sky was completely blown out as I was shooting into the sun and the clouds looked better in the reflection so I figured I’d try the conversion.

  3. Goodness, Bodnant…I know I went there as a child, but don’t remember it at all…..

  4. Lovely reflection.

There’s a video on youtube titled, Joni Mitchell Both sides now on Mama Cass Show 1969. To introduce Joni, Mama Cass just says: “This is singing” So true.

    1. I used to like Joni Mitchell back in the day, but now I find her voice irritates me. Age is a funny thing…

  5. Bodnant. Beautiful at all times of the year. Went especially to see the laburnum arch earlier this year. Stunning. Took some nice photos of this pool and the water lillies too.

    1. We were too late for the laburnum arch and never seemed to find time to go back. It is a lovely garden in the most beautiful scenery.
