…every square is a rectangle because it is a quadrilateral with all four angles right angles. But of course every rectangle is not a square as a square is a special kind of rectangle, one where all the sides have the same length.

If you fancy a distraction from the weather this month then join in with Becky’s (“A life of a 40 something”) March challenge of square photographs with the theme:
- ‘Squared Squares’ – think multiple squares and squares within squares
- ‘Squaring the Circle’ – the perfect post will be a circle within a square

As long as it’s in a square frame, it works for me. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete. x
You’re easy to please Pete 🙂
Always. 😉
What was I saying about an Oracle? 🙂 🙂
She’s fab isn’t she – and there are coloured squares too 🙂
it’s like “all azaleas are rhodos but not all rhodos are azaleas” 😀
Ooh now you’re getting clever!
😀 😀
I just wanted to let everyone know that I know the difference between a rectangle and a square and that I realise that there are more of the former than the latter in this picture. But if you draw imaginary lines on the rectangles then you can have more squares. So much more happiness 😀 😀
I love you Jude! X
Now, now, Jo. Don’t get carried away dear.
😀😀😂😂
You are so fabulous 😙
😀 😀
Very clever, but is that too much Maths for a Saturday? 😉 Your quadrilaterals are very colourful and brighten up this dull day (yes, it’s raining here 😕).
Did you paint them or photoshop them? 🙂
That’s what I was wondering, Gilly!
Would I do that?
No this is a real paving in the Spanish Village up at Balboa Park in San Diego.
Oh, marvellous!
Reminds me of my old headteacher, a wonderful mathematician, who obsessed over correct terminology! Don’t get me started on times versus multiplied by!!!
Haha… HH I won’t! Sorry if I brought back bad memories 😀
Were you a teacher? 🙂
Haha… yes for a short while, but not in Mathematics 😀
