Yes, quite a stunning contrast. Quite lovely up there too, even if getting up is a bit of a slog.
As many have said, the colours are great – four basic colours = one striking image.

How did you get around Slovenia Jude, it is easy on public transport?
Flew EasyJet (I think) to Ljubljana and got a car shuttle to hotel in Lake Bled. Used bus to visit other places, very easy to do.

You’d like Ljubljana. And could get a bus out to Lake Bled for a day. Or Trieste or Zagrab.
