“Staying in Fort Lauderdale offered me the opportunity to take a coach trip to Miami and in particular, South Beach (SoBe), with its sugar-white sand and beautifully preserved Art Deco buildings along Ocean Drive. Before we got there though we took a trip out into Biscayne Bay from where we could see the wonderful skyline of Downtown Miami itself and the fabulous millionaire properties”

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude

“Biscayne Bay, where the Cuban gentlemen sleep all day, I went searching for the song you used to sing to me”.
From ‘Dr Wu’, my favourite Steely Dan song. 🙂
I would like to see those Art Deco buildings some time.
Best wishes, Pete. x
I don’t know that song, or do I? Might need to look it up. I shall put together a post about the Art Deco buildings for you and PP 🙂
I think you might remember it, when you hear it. x
I’m a Steely Dan fan too, though I was thinking of a different song. 🙂 🙂 Boiling here. I’m off to the garden.
Boiling? Hazy here today, rain yesterday – back to the usual Cornish weather it seems 🙂 I noticed that Doncaster has been very hot!
I can think of places I’d rather be than Doncaster. Tweaked my back yesterday so taking it slow today. Rafa time this afternoon xx
Rafa sweating his way through! I was watching the Cilic match which was pretty good.
Bit of a surprise, that one. Raf was made to work hard, unlike the effortless, glide around the court Mr. F, yesterday. 🙂
Mr F is Mr Cool 😀 I don’t think he ever breaks sweat!
A bit like the Gold Coast sky line. I would love to see the Art Deco buildings too Jude
I shall dig a few out for you 🙂
Good
Looks fab. I’ve always wanted to go there.
I want the Art Deco buildings too! Another postcard?
I will give it a go. Didn’t get very good photos along Ocean Drive though. Difficult to get the buildings in frame as lots of cars and people and restaurants along there.
PS The clouds are great. They dwarf the buildings and that’s a big plus
The clouds were wonderful. I think this is why I took this particular shot.
A beautiful photo, Jude. Postcard perfect. I guess they’re now multi-million dollar properties.
Nice one, Jude! The blues are beautiful, with white in between.
Another lovely photo, and I like how the clouds seem to be emphasising the different heights of the buildings. I’ve not been to Miami, but I’ve heard that it’s an interesting place to visit.
A great capture, Jude. This sky is fabulous, thank heavens for clouds.
Miami is fascinating, especially at wintertime.
The clouds were pretty amazing on that day. I love the way they just billowed over the high-rises.
