I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

That worked well. I always like to see those old lofts and storage sheds around the south coast. Something very English about them.

There are of course net lofts in every old fishing port, but I wonder why these are so distinctive? Tall and narrow unlike others that are like an attic room. Dutch influence?
No idea. But the area is definitely known for them. x

There’s a tv series about Edward and Mary, the unknown Tudors. I wonder if this is inspired by them.
