Almost A Black and White Sunday

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude
Triumph of clever engineering improving innovative design.
It is an amazing building, but I have never been inside. Maybe next time I am in Sydney I will do.
I’ve wandered around the public areas, but never been to an event there. To be honest, I didn’t find the interiors all that memorable. The beauty for me is all in the “sails”.
Shame. I was hoping the interior would be quite impressive.
If you do go, let me know what you think. I often find public building interiors a bit uninspiring, and maybe I just a bit harsh.
We did the tour inside on our recent visit to Sydney, and it was really interesting not just to see it, but to hear about the trials and tribulations of the construction and to stand in the two auditoriums.
Ooooh! Great patterns
Great tiles!
Fair enough!
This would have made a great RegularRandom. Do you know Desley Jane?
I do and I join in occasionally, usually with flowers. I probably spent a lot more than five minutes photographing this roof though!
I should have thought. I never see a small cake without thinking of Desley, though she can photograph them fifty times better than I can.
So true!
The cakes I mean, not your photographic ability!
Right either way 🙂
Roof panels, I believe. I like the chevron designs a lot.
Best wishes, Pete. x
Sydney Opera House tiles are wonderful. From a distance the tiles all look white, but they are really a combination of two colours: cream and white (as in the panel of the photo), and two types of finish: matt and glazed. A work of art!

Thanks for the link. x
I thought you’d enjoy the article.
Would make nice bathroom tiles. On a rather grand scale 😃😃
You can apparently buy these tiles for your home. Not these ones literally you understand. 😉
The Opera House is such a fabulous building and instantly recognisable. I would like to do the tour inside one day.
Oh I love it, i thought it was fabric or paper but it isn’t is it?
No Gilly, genuine tiles. Just played around with a photo editor to get this effect.
