postcard from america

We were in the White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire during 2006 for an October break and to do some “leaf peeping”. This photo is of Lake Winnipesaukee the largest lake in the area which we drove around on our way back to Boston and then on to Cape Cod for our last few days. The scenery in this part of the US is absolutely beautiful in the autumn and we were enchanted by not only the leaf colours and stunning scenery, but the pretty little towns with their covered bridges, clapboard houses and tall church steeples.

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

      1. Oh you were so lucky. We planned our visit months in advance as our New England leaf peeping travels were when I was working ft. It was good but not perfect as a very late fall that year. Fortunately since caught more spectacular falls in Pittsbugh, but I’d love to do New England again x

    1. Nor here, unless you visit a large garden where they have planted lots of American tree species. Also need a hot summer which we have had this year.

  1. This is one trip that I would really love to do, the colours look absolutely stunning.

    1. It’s different. I was disappointed that we didn’t have time to visit Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. I just LOVE those names.
