We were in the White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire during 2006 for an October break and to do some “leaf peeping”. This photo is of Lake Winnipesaukee the largest lake in the area which we drove around on our way back to Boston and then on to Cape Cod for our last few days. The scenery in this part of the US is absolutely beautiful in the autumn and we were enchanted by not only the leaf colours and stunning scenery, but the pretty little towns with their covered bridges, clapboard houses and tall church steeples.

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude
Beautiful 😊 and so fortunate to get the timing right.
I was teaching at the time so the autumn half term was a perfect time to visit New England.
Oh you were so lucky. We planned our visit months in advance as our New England leaf peeping travels were when I was working ft. It was good but not perfect as a very late fall that year. Fortunately since caught more spectacular falls in Pittsbugh, but I’d love to do New England again x
Yes, NE is a lovely region, I just fell in love with the covered bridges.
I could never find enough of them!
BTW Love your new photo!!
Thank you 😁 was taken at my stepdaughters wedding. Has to share it!
You look very glamorous. A lovely colour which suits you.
Awwwww thank you XXX 😘
That scene is is beautiful. It almost doesn’t seem real.
We saw some amazing colours over there. A lovely time to visit the area.
New England in Autumn has long been rightly praised for its beauty, and this shot shows why.
Best wishes, Pete. x
Very dramatic Pete. We had a great week over in New England.
How beautiful! And I of course have to think of John Irving 🙂
Ah, yes. I have read/seen a few of his novels.
Looks idyllic 🙂 🙂 I always had a fancy for New England in the Fall. Got much Autumn colour down your way?
Not many trees my way Jo so no. Although I shall try and get to a few gardens before the end of the month.
Simply stunning, with all those autumnal tones. We just don’t get that range of colours here.
Nor here, unless you visit a large garden where they have planted lots of American tree species. Also need a hot summer which we have had this year.
Stunning! This time of year is sheer magic 🙂
Gorgeous Jude, you have travelled to so many places!
This is one trip that I would really love to do, the colours look absolutely stunning.
It’s an area well worth visiting, especially in the autumn.
So lovely. 🙂 Cape Cod is another place on my ever lengthening list of places I want to visit.
It’s different. I was disappointed that we didn’t have time to visit Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. I just LOVE those names.
