The theme for Becky’s April Squares challenge is ‘top’
-
- On Top of the World – summit, crown, peak or uppermost part of something
- Under the Big Top – topping or covering (or if you’re really lucky circus)
- Room at the Top – first or highest in position
- Cherry on Top – something made even more wonderful by becoming square
- Top and Tail – or maybe you’d prefer to play around with word combinations such as top dog, top stitch, top full, top line, top fruit, top hat, top secret, top knot, top drawer and top dollar!
on top of the world Bled Castle
The castle at Bled, Slovenia, can be reached up a steep route from the Castle beach, or slightly less tortuous routes by road from behind the Bledec hostel. The castle offers magnificent views and is an interesting medieval fortress, well worth the effort of getting there.
And in case you can’t quite visualise it, here is a non-square photo showing the castle on the top right.

April Squares | Day Three
Ooh, fabulous. Do you think we’ll ever be able to travel again!
I hope so! I have grandsons in Australia who are growing bigger and bigger!
I love castles, and that’s a cracker, Jude. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete. x
It’s a lovely area Pete. Nice and relaxing and a lake just the right size for a gentle stroll around.
oh this is a top square of a topping castle. Fabulous Jude, and thank you for taking us on an adventure today was beginning to feel a little housebound.
If you have not been to Slovenia (Bled and Ljubljana) then you should. It is a wonderful region.
Maybe when all of this is over . . . . got a feeling it is going to be long wait 😦
I wouldn’t mind a week back there myself, it is a lovely place to relax in, as long as you don’t stay in the hotel near the casino!
I’ve stayed in a casino before – didn’t play – just a great place to stay for the price and level of luxury! So am sure can cope being next door 🙂
Very noisy until the early hours!
oh 😦 ours was not like that . . . hmmm may have to rethink then!!
That looks like a lovely place to visit.
It is. I thoroughly recommend it. And you don’t need a car either as there is good public transport so you can easily visit Ljubljana and the nearby Vintgar Gorge.
Always fancied going there, and Bohinj. Lovely photos , Jude 🙂 🙂
Yes, I’d like to get to Bohinj too. Didn’t have enough time on our visit.
That position looks a bit precarious. The surroundings are beautiful.
Well built into the rock! Great views from up there.
Oooh, wow, that’s one I would like to see!
