Life in Colour

To find out more about this year’s photo challenge here on Travel Words, please read this post.

This month we will be looking for Yellow. A bright and happy colour and often associated with spring. The sun in the sky, heat and light. What yellows can you find in your world?

“There are painters who
transform the sun
to a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and
their intelligence
transform a yellow spot
into the sun”

~Pablo Picasso

Remember to look for yellow in less obvious places. It may not be the focus of your photo, but it should certainly catch the eye.

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. Yay the glorious yellow!

It was nearly my theme for the next squares, however I have something else up my sleeve. So that means I can enjoy this fabulous colour in all shapes and sizes 😀

  2. You have given us a great colour for February. One of my favourites, along with orange. I usually have plenty of yellow flowers in the garden, but at the moment in this hot weather, not much is flowering. So will have a look around tomorrow morning and maybe check through the archives. I’ll be back tomorrow

  3. Roll out the daffodils, or better yet crocus…my preferred Spring flower. 🙂 🙂 Good kwuote! Are you a Picasso fan? Happy Sunday, Jude!

    1. Lots of yellows, be interesting to see how everyone interprets it. I was astonished at all the varied browns.

  4. How funny. Sue and I were going to exchange yellow photos. Now we have an extra incentive. Gotta get beyond daffodils though, and your beautifully eclectic collection proves this is possible.

    1. Yes, I expect a few daffodils, but there are a lot of different ones. I have a couple of interesting ones I think. No one has used textiles yet.

  5. What a happy, hopeful colour for taking us further into 2021!
Our daffodils are still very green, & standing as straight as flagpoles – there is no sign at all of the primroses yet, and the 60 crocuses I planted last year were all eaten by rabbits (yes, I know they’re meant to be rabbit proof, but the wild rabbits here don’t read any of the instruction books!!). So I’ll have to have a think, and will enjoy everyone else’s yellows in the meantime! 🙂

    1. Oh, naughty rabbits! You can share my crocuses, I have yellow and purple and white and the tricolour ones. They don’t last long though.

      1. Thanks Jude – I couldn’t believe it – I painstakingly planted so many crocus bulbs last year, each cluster covered with a chicken wire cloche, and the next day I had nothing but unsightly holes 😂

  6. Lovely bright and cheerful colour! I will be back with some yellows next Sunday!

      1. It will be a challenge! Yellow does not feature in many of my archived photos.

        1. You’ll have to get out and look for some then. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the main subject. 😉

        2. It’s time for another trip down memory lane! 😉

  7. I might see some yellow once the daffodils pop up all around Beetley. Still all brown here at the moment though. The river looks like chocolate too.
    Best wishes, Pete. x
