This month we will be looking for Black or Grey. Black is not a colour at all. Theoretically it is the absence of all colour. Yet black is distinctive. Lines are bolder, shadows deeper, colours brighter against a black background.
“There’s a reason we don’t see the world in black and white”
~ Celerie Kemble
This month is not about creating black and white photographs, but in finding the true blacks or greys in a colourful world.

Happy Sunday, Jude, great idea for November! I will post as best I can with blacks and grays, easily done this time of year, and as you say, black underscores images to the nth degree! Here is mine this week: https://secondwindleisure.com/2021/11/07/sunday-stills-fur-tastic-paws-and-birds-of-a-feather/
Good to train the eye to pick out something different this month.
Definitely!
Should be a good one. You got off to a great start, Jude.
Best wishes, Pete. x
Not quite as easy as the rest, flowers and food could be in short supply, but it will be interesting to see what people come up with.
I love the texture on the shed. I wasn’t looking forward to black, but now it comes to it, I’ve found it quite enjoyable, so thanks! I wasn’t expecting to post about this, but here goes: https://susanrushton.net/2021/11/07/life-in-colour-blackboard-signs/
Had to include black and grey at some point and since I find this the greyest month (although so far it hasn’t been too bad) November was chosen. There’s a lot out there if you start thinking about it.
Black! That’s something different. I like it 😀
Good!
Black as a non-colour is really v. interesting, thinking shadows and silhouettes as well as actual pigment.
Exactly! Thinking outside the box is required this month.
Inspirational images today, Jude. I hope I find something to post this month.
I hope so too! Not necessarily the pigment, think of shadows or shade too.
This is going to be an interesting month. I love your photos Jude 😀
Here is my entry for your post.
Thanks Cee. I am sure you will find some interesting photos.
