Prague (the city of 101 spires apparently) is an easy city to get around either by foot (always the best way to explore I think) or using the trams or underground systems. We were staying a little outside the main areas of the Old Town and the Lesser Town in the Malmaison Riverside Hotel which is practically opposite the famous ‘Fred and Ginger’ or Dancing House.

Walking through the Old Town you realise why Prague is often called ‘Paris of the East’ with its charming winding streets, medieval architecture and cultural landmarks. As you can tell from my photos, the weather wasn’t great during my visit (which was in the month of October), but nor was the place too busy.

The list of places I haven’t been gets longer! There’s never been a ‘right’ moment for this one.
That’s why the conferences were a good excuse to go to places that I would probably never have been to. It meant a lot of exploring on my own, but I quite liked that.
This has long been on my ‘must visit’ list, but despite your being lucky one October, it just sounds too busy these days. So thanks for this Virtual Tour.
oh my that’s three of us now who have always intended to visit here – maybe we should organise a bloggers trip – but out of season to avoid the crowds!
👍
I’m not sure there is an out of season, and I’d definitely avoid late autumn. Spring might be rather nice.
Hmm. Country Mouse not yet convinced.
I still think you should consider it. I’m not sure it is such a hot spot for the hens and stags these days. But I will be showing more from Prague over the next few weeks if you prefer armchair travelling.
Let’s wait for your next post then!
Gorgeous photos
Thanks Becky, it would have helped to have had better weather. The light was poor most days.
well you did brilliantly
Everyone we know who’s been to Prague has loved it. Definitely on my list for the future.
It’s a very interesting city. More to come.
I spent a few days in Prague a couple of years ago. I do not remember anything. Oh … wait I do. The beer is the best and very cheap.
Hahaha… 🍻
Luckily I visited before it got super-busy
I think most cities are busy, you just expect them to be, but I must admit I’m not so fond of crowds nowadays.
Prague looks like somewhere I’d really love visiting – I’ve certainly enjoyed your tour here. 🙂
It’s an incredibly interesting city. More to come next week.
I’ll look forward to seeing that – armchair travel has its advantages!
We had a lovely time in Prague, and it was nicer and more relaxing that I expected it to be. Mind you, we went out of season, January 2011, and it was cold. Even so, there were still quite a lot of tourists.
Best wishes, Pete. x
It was cold and wet when we were there (it even snowed in Cesky Kumlov on a day trip) but I still enjoyed exploring.
Lovely reminders of a splendid city. It’s many years since I visited and Michaela has never been. I keep saying I must take her.
Well I’m sure you’ll have an Eastern European trip planned at some point.
beautiful pictures! This is another city that I’ve long wanted to visit 🙂
Seems to be a popular one for the wish list.
