Another thing we weren’t short of. Boats. Watching the tide ebb and flow, the wind whipping up waves, the ferryman with his foot passengers, row boats, motor yachts, windsurfers and sailing dinghies was fun.
Perhaps not so much fun for this person who fell foul on a sandbank. We got quite a shock this morning and not just from the look of that sky.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week by the water. So much to look at we were never bored.
Quite the number of good looking boats Jude 😀 I bet getting stuck on the sandbank wasn’t on their list 😁
I was astonished to see people moving around on that boat. They can’t have had a comfortable night!
Not at all
You have to be quite careful steering through the channels to our offshore islands too. Tricky when your water ‘disappears’. 6.17 on 31st August is a favourite. They’re safe in harbour and I love the colours xx
Not often you’ll see a sunrise photo from me, but here I was waking up early and my bedroom faced east.
Beautiful pictures but especially the sunrise and sunset photos.
Waking up to the soft light was a real treat. I’m not usually a morning person.
Good to see them making use of the water in different ways. Lovely wide photos, Jude.
Best wishes, Pete. x
Thanks Pete. All taken using my phone camera.
Good to hear that you enjoyed your week by the water – and I enjoyed a mini-escape to it through your lovely photography. 🙂 (I’m already looking forward to summer days out for next year!)
I thoroughly enjoyed being by the water and watching all the goings on. Plus we had some interesting weather that week and the skies were so dramatic.
I do like boaty places like this, there’s always something going on and the water enhances most photos 🙂 I love your 29th August @ 19:45 shot, the colours are vibrant yet peaceful.
I like that one too. You could say it was dreamy? 🤭
Are you making a point haha? 😆
Who me? 🙄
I would not be bored either with that view and the ever-changing sky.
After the long and rather traumatic drive to get there I was not in the least bothered about travelling anywhere else, which is not like me. Usually I am keen to explore, but I find that part of Essex is lacking in places I am interested in. Watching the river goings on and the sky was most entertaining. And we saw the grandson who was the main objective after all.
So much to see and you hardly had to go anywhere. What beautiful views you had and gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. Bonus!
Yes, we were lucky with the accommodation. Well worth the money.
simply perfect
We thought so. I enjoyed my time there.
What glorious photos! I’m glad I kept this post to look at on our return.
