Words on Wednesday

Old Harry Rocks, a series of white chalk stacks located at Handfast Point on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, England.

Location: They mark the easternmost point of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are situated between the towns of Studland and Swanage and once were connected to the Needles on the Isle of Wight.

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

    1. As a child we used to holiday around this area and often visited the beach from where I took this photo, but I do not recall the cliffs at all!

      1. That is amazing not to remember those cliffs. I guess as a kid, I would have been more interested in swimming and rock pool exploring

    1. Studland Bay – South Beach. I wasn’t impressed by the beach. Cornish beaches have spoiled me. But the view of these cliffs was good. I had intended to walk out to them along the headland if I hadn’t hurt my toe – that was done on Tuesday on the Jurassic coast.

    1. The thing I have against the Dorset coast is that the beaches are mostly shingle and pebbles (except for Weymouth) and the sea is boringly flat. Dorset itself is nice, but like so many places these day there is so much traffic.
