I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling. View all posts by Heyjude
This is a lovely flower portrait, Jude.
Thanks Margaret. Need a hot glasshouse to grow these here, though there is one variety which is hardy and grows outside in the UK. I tried, but failed.
Beautiful photos, especially the header.
Beautiful portraits of these gorgeous flowers! My parents lived opposite a garden centre in Spain (I spent a lot of time in there) and it had so many fabulous hibiscuses that I just wished I could grow at home…the nearest I can get is the hardy hibiscus shrubs. (Not quite so exotic!)
Central Texas, with its hot climate, hosts plenty of native species in the mallow family, even if their flowers are generally on the small side compared to tropical species. Outdoors is their natural home here: no greenhouse necessary.
So many gorgeous shots of one of my favourite flowers!
These look tired. Or maybe it’s the heat. So many lovely colours. My favourite, gold with a crimson heart xx
The yellow one was going over, the pale pink in bud. These tropical ones do love heat.
beautiful studies of hibiscus, Jude!
Absolutely gorgeous portraits of beautiful flowers. my favourite is the pink / yellow which looks like flouncing petticoats.
Beauitful
