Ludlow has a fine collection of Georgian doorways of many different and unusual styles from simply elegant neo-classical to ornate porches and fancy fanlights. (click image to enlarge)

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. Third row down, third one in. I like the geometric pattern in the plasterwork.
Good old Ludlow. Is there nothing this town cannot provide by way of photographic opportunity Jude? You should contact the tourist board, and get paid for organising photography tours.
    Regards as always, Pete. x

    1. Apparently that is in the “Gibbsian” style Pete.
I reckon I have almost photographed every building in the town – windows, doors, timber-frames AND the walks around here. Time to move on maybe?

    1. That’s almost the same style as my front door – without the side panels (row two, third along with the wooden door that you like). Neo-classical style 🙂

  2. Top row, second one in, love the double frontage like that with the side windows. Great threshold pics Jude, Ludlow certainly does have some beautiful buildings 🙂 xx

    1. Like mine (see comment above) though mine doesn’t have the side windows – I wish it did as the hallway is quite dark 😦

      1. Well you have a lovely front door either way 🙂 Your hallway has to be better than ours, it’s tiny 😦

  3. Wow Jude that is quite the selection. Definitely meets thee theme. Bottom row second from left. I am imagining all the light coming in from the extra windows.

      1. My door is made out of assorted types of glass. I am grateful for that sunshine so likely why I chose that one. 🙂

    1. I like the red door too, and you are quite right the brass door furniture is delightful. A simple elegant neo-classical design with just a touch of ornateness in that lovely fanlight. A very welcoming door.

    1. Hi Lynne, your choice seems to be the favourite so far! I shall go and check out the link – door whores – brilliant 😀

  4. No. 4, the gentle lilac wall is a nice background and seems inviting. And 6- the red. Door whores? I’ll give that a go 🙂
